<strong>Myriant</strong> is leading the industry in the production <strong>of</strong> high-value<br />
bio-based chemicals. We make and sell “green” chemicals that<br />
are used to make every day consumer applications—from plastics<br />
and coatings to clothing fibers and pharmaceuticals—only we make<br />
<strong>our</strong> chemicals from renewable feedstocks instead <strong>of</strong> petroleumbased<br />
s<strong>our</strong>ces. Our proven technology platform enables <strong>Myriant</strong><br />
to deliver high-performing green chemicals at a competitive, more<br />
predictable cost versus petroleum-based chemicals, without the<br />
need for government subsidies.<br />
<strong>Myriant</strong>’s flagship commercial facility in <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Providence</strong>, LA will produce 30 million pounds <strong>of</strong> bio-succinic acid<br />
annually. Start-up activities are underway and <strong>Myriant</strong> expects product shipments to commence soon. To keep<br />
pace with customer demand, <strong>Myriant</strong> is planning for expansion both domestically and across the globe.<br />

Partner Perfect: Industry and Government Join<br />
Forces to Drive Economic Development<br />
<strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Providence</strong> is an excellent example <strong>of</strong> industry<br />
and government partnering to drive growth in rural<br />
economies. Our <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Providence</strong> Commercial <strong>Facility</strong><br />
is partially funded through a $50M cost sharing<br />
award from the United States Department <strong>of</strong> Energy<br />
(DOE), and a $25M Business and Industry (B&I) Loan<br />
Guarantee from the United States Department <strong>of</strong><br />
Agriculture (USDA). These awards have helped <strong>Myriant</strong><br />
spur commercialization <strong>of</strong> its bio-succinic acid and<br />
importantly, it has assisted in the creation <strong>of</strong> 50+<br />
new, direct and highly-skilled jobs, as well more than<br />
400 construction jobs in <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Providence</strong>. It’s been<br />
estimated that <strong>our</strong> project will create as many indirect<br />
jobs in the surrounding area as well.<br />
<strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Providence</strong> was selected as the location <strong>of</strong> <strong>our</strong><br />
first commercial facility due its proximity to abundant<br />
feedstock in the area, its location along the Mississippi<br />
River and the committed support for <strong>our</strong> project by<br />
local and state <strong>of</strong>ficials.<br />
