Daylight Savings Time. Our Smart Boards are up and running; we are very excited to have this technology in four of our classrooms, with a fifth Smart Board arriving within the next couple of weeks. The students will have many opportunities to use this during the day through our different activities. EcoSchools Spring is around the corner, it reminds us how beautiful our environment is. Spring inspires us to ensure its beauty will be appreciated for years to come. There are several days in March dedicated to focusing and celebrating the environment. March 11 th is Bottled Water Free day, March 22 nd is World Water day and March 27 th is Earth Hour. Also, at Clifford Bowey, we are about to receive our new green bins to help us compost food waste. It is exciting to watch our school grow greener as the environment starts greening around us. Spring is around the corner bringing with it some much needed warmer weather. With that warmth comes wetter conditions. It would be helpful if your child/young adult had a second pair of shoes to change into at school. Many thanks. Head Lice Head lice are common in school-aged children, but anyone can get them. These small insects can crawl from person to person by direct head to head contact and most often cause itching. Parents should check their children’s hair weekly for head lice. Look for nits (eggs) of head lice. Nits look like dandruff, but they cannot be shaken or flicked off the hair. They are found on the hair very close to the scalp. If you see lice or nits, notify the school and treat your child. Ottawa Public Health recommends that the first of the two required treatments be done before your child returns to school. Teach your children to protect themselves from getting head lice: Avoid sharing combs, brushes, hair accessories. Tie back long hair in a braid or ponytail. Keep hats, mittens, and scarves in the sleeve of your child’s coat.
