Abstracts should be typed in MS WORD in Arial
Font of size 12 and 1.5 space not exceeding 10
lines excluding the title, authors and their affiliation
(with email id) and keywords.
Last date for submission
of abstract is : 25- 1-2012
Scholars whose papers have been accepted for
presentation are requested to pay a registration
Fee of Rs. 300/- drawn in favor of Registrar,
University of Madras.
Note: Paper to be presented could have more
than one author but the presenter should be a
scholar below 35 years. Supervisors/ HOD should
affix the signature that the presenting scholar is
below 35 yrs.

Objective of the Symposium
The main objective in organizing the
symposium is to provide a forum for Young
Researchers below the age of 35 years to present
their research findings. The symposium plans to
cover both theoretical and applied aspects of
statistics. Department of Statistics is quite keen
to encourage and invite young scholars in
statistics and allied areas to actively participate
in the NSSAYR-2012. The program also include
a panel discussion with distinguished Professors
and young scholars to discuss the trends and
development in statistics.
Due to constraint in funding a sleeper class
railway fare would be provided to limited young
scholars who are not having any grants/
fellowships.
Scholars have to make their own arrangement
for accommodation. The organizers could
provide necessary support.
Department of Statistics
The Department of Statistics, University of
Madras was established in 1941. The Department
has been identified by the Department of Science
and Technology (DST) under its FIST program
for the financial support. It enjoys recognition
from National and international Institutions. The
department has a research programme leading
to Ph.D in Statistics and two Post Graduate
courses in M.Sc. Statistics and M. Sc. Actuarial
Science.
