Sales Markets in Eastern Europe<br />

Were the Main Subject at the<br />

Automotive Workshop in Wolfsburg<br />

At a two-day internal workshop of the <strong>Panopa</strong> Logistik GmbH, a total of 68 attendees discussed extensively about<br />

the sales markets in Eastern Europe and other things. A joint evening of football and a visit to the Autostadt in<br />

Wolfsburg completed the workshop.<br />

From 12 to 13 June <strong>2008</strong>, the em -<br />

ployees of <strong>Panopa</strong> got together in<br />

Wolfsburg in order to discuss the<br />

future of the automotive business in<br />

East Europe. Rüdiger Buß, managing<br />

director of <strong>Panopa</strong>, opened the work -<br />

shop with retrospection to the start of<br />

<strong>Panopa</strong> automotive logistics. With four<br />

employees, <strong>Panopa</strong> started at one lo -<br />

cation in 1993. Now, about 1,300 em -<br />

ployees are active in this business div -<br />

ision at 12 locations all over Europe.<br />

In a number of individual reports, the<br />

division managers presented the growth<br />

strategies of <strong>Panopa</strong> in Poland and the<br />

chances and risks of current and future<br />

projects. The new spare parts centre in<br />

Herten, which is to be ceremoniously<br />

opened at the end of October, as well<br />

as insurance law aspects of contract<br />

logistics were also presented in detail.<br />

Dudenhöffer predicts that the Asian<br />

automotive market will grow strongly<br />

in the future. In his opin ion, automobile<br />

sales will double by 2020, both in<br />

Asia and in Eastern Europe – a good<br />
