4E Computer and Internet Acceptable Use Policy (Pupils)
1. You must obtain the permission of your parent(s)/guardian(s) before you can be
allowed to use the school computers.
2. You must only access those services you have been given permission to use. Search
Engines are only to be used with the permission of your parent(s)/guardian(s).
3. You must not access the service without a supervisor. A supervisor can either be a
teacher or a Network Manager.
4. The work/activity on the computer must be directly related to your school work.
5. Do not disclose any password or login name you have been given, to anyone.
6. Under no circumstances give addresses/telephone numbers/fax numbers of any
teachers or students at Sutton Grammar School. Use of names of students or
photographs of students will require written permission from parent(s)/guardian(s).
7. Do not download, use or upload any material which is copyright. Always seek
permission from the owner, before using any material from the Internet. If in doubt, or
you cannot obtain permission, do not use the material.
8. Do not download or install any software or service onto any school computer, laptop or
tablet device without the permission of a member of the IT department.
9. Do not bring into school any portable storage device which you believe or suspect has
been infected with any virus, trojan or other malware.
10. Under no circumstances should you view, upload or download any material which is
likely to be unsuitable for children or schools. This applies to any material of a violent,
dangerous, racist, sexist, homophobic, or inappropriate sexual nature. If you are not
sure about this, or any materials, you must ask your supervisor.
11. Always respect the privacy of files of other users. Do not enter the file areas of other
students or staff without obtaining permission from them first.
12. You must agree for the systems operator to view any material you store on the school's
computers, or on disks you use on the school's computers.
13. Be polite and appreciate that other users might have different views from your own.
The use of strong language, swearing or aggressive behaviour is not allowed. Do not
type anything which could be interpreted as libel.
14. Failure to comply with these rules will result in one or more of the following:
(a) A ban, temporary or permanent, on the use of the computer facilities at school.
(b) A letter informing your parents of the nature and breach of rules.

(c) Appropriate sanctions and restrictions placed on access to school facilities to be
decided by the Head of Year or Head of Department.
(d) ) Any other action decided by the Head and Governors of Sutton Grammar
School.
If you do not understand any part of this Acceptable Usage Policy, you must ask a member of
the IT department.
