<strong>Sutton</strong> Grammar School<br />
<strong>4E</strong> <strong>Computer</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Internet</strong> <strong>Acceptable</strong> <strong>Use</strong> <strong>Policy</strong> (<strong>Pupils</strong>)<br />
1. You must obtain the permission of your parent(s)/guardian(s) before you can be<br />
allowed to use the school computers.<br />
2. You must only access those services you have been given permission to use. Search<br />
Engines are only to be used with the permission of your parent(s)/guardian(s).<br />
3. You must not access the service without a supervisor. A supervisor can either be a<br />
teacher or a Network Manager.<br />
4. The work/activity on the computer must be directly related to your school work.<br />
5. Do not disclose any password or login name you have been given, to anyone.<br />
6. Under no circumstances give addresses/telephone numbers/fax numbers of any<br />
teachers or students at <strong>Sutton</strong> Grammar School. <strong>Use</strong> of names of students or<br />
photographs of students will require written permission from parent(s)/guardian(s).<br />
7. Do not download, use or upload any material which is copyright. Always seek<br />
permission from the owner, before using any material from the <strong>Internet</strong>. If in doubt, or<br />
you cannot obtain permission, do not use the material.<br />
8. Do not download or install any software or service onto any school computer, laptop or<br />
tablet device without the permission of a member of the IT department.<br />
9. Do not bring into school any portable storage device which you believe or suspect has<br />
been infected with any virus, trojan or other malware.<br />
10. Under no circumstances should you view, upload or download any material which is<br />
likely to be unsuitable for children or schools. This applies to any material of a violent,<br />
dangerous, racist, sexist, homophobic, or inappropriate sexual nature. If you are not<br />
sure about this, or any materials, you must ask your supervisor.<br />
11. Always respect the privacy of files of other users. Do not enter the file areas of other<br />
students or staff without obtaining permission from them first.<br />
12. You must agree for the systems operator to view any material you store on the school's<br />
computers, or on disks you use on the school's computers.<br />
13. Be polite <strong>and</strong> appreciate that other users might have different views from your own.<br />
The use of strong language, swearing or aggressive behaviour is not allowed. Do not<br />
type anything which could be interpreted as libel.<br />
14. Failure to comply with these rules will result in one or more of the following:<br />
(a) A ban, temporary or permanent, on the use of the computer facilities at school.<br />
(b) A letter informing your parents of the nature <strong>and</strong> breach of rules.
(c) Appropriate sanctions <strong>and</strong> restrictions placed on access to school facilities to be<br />
decided by the Head of Year or Head of Department.<br />
(d) ) Any other action decided by the Head <strong>and</strong> Governors of <strong>Sutton</strong> Grammar<br />
School.<br />
If you do not underst<strong>and</strong> any part of this <strong>Acceptable</strong> Usage <strong>Policy</strong>, you must ask a member of<br />
the IT department.<br />
