Auditions for <strong>Beaumaris</strong> <strong>Theatre</strong>’s next production will be held on Saturday July 9 th 10am to 5pm,<br />
Sunday July 10 th 10am to 3.30pm, and Monday July 11 th 7.30pm to 9pm at <strong>Beaumaris</strong> <strong>Theatre</strong>, 82 Wells<br />
Rd <strong>Beaumaris</strong>, 3193 (<strong>Me</strong>lways 86G6). Callbacks (if necessary) will be held on Monday July 11 th from<br />
9pm.<br />
Auditions will take the form of a read through with selected dialogue from the play. Auditionees will<br />
have the chance to peruse before auditioning. Therefore we recommend arrival at the theatre at least<br />
10 minutes prior to the booked audition time.<br />
Rehearsals will start on Thursday July 14 th . We will be rehearsing 2 nights a week and on Sundays 4pm<br />
to 7pm. The season runs 9 th – 24 th September 2011.<br />

<strong>Junie</strong> <strong>Moon</strong> Characters Required:<br />
<strong>Junie</strong> <strong>Moon</strong>;<br />
Arthur;<br />
Warren;<br />
Minnie;<br />
Dr Kirkland;<br />
Miss Holt;<br />
Despite her disfigurement, she is a spunky and funny girl. She has a large scar on one<br />
side of her face and wears her hair to cover it. She wears a short cotton g<strong>love</strong> on her<br />
left hand at all times.<br />
He is a victim of a progressive neurological disease which affects his muscular control.<br />
He walks with a careening gait, favouring his weak right leg. He will occasionally toss his<br />
hands and arms about or shake his head involuntarily. He <strong>love</strong>s <strong>Junie</strong> <strong>Moon</strong>, and ‘til the<br />
end, wants her to tell him, that she <strong>love</strong>s him too.<br />
He is a paraplegic in a wheelchair. Having been protected in his early life, he is more<br />
childlike, petulant and spoiled. He is concerned with appearances. He is bright,<br />
articulate and quite funny. He dresses well and is always neat in appearance.<br />
She is an elderly lady who is a long –time patient of the hospital. She is intelligent but<br />
uneducated, warm and motherly, but tends to be cranky due to her illness, age and long<br />
hospital stay.<br />
He is a sympathetic, young and good-looking doctor.<br />
She is a nurse who is sharp, bright and understanding. She doesn’t mollycoddle the<br />
patients.
Miss Oxford;<br />
John Goren;<br />
Marilyn;<br />
She is a dedicated nurse, but is rather repressed so she seems to be uncomfortable with<br />
the patients. She is always trying not to be drawn into feeling for the three patients and<br />
is actually jealous of their companionship and <strong>love</strong> for each other.<br />
He is essentially a nice young man, but is embittered at the loss of his lower leg. He uses<br />
a crutch. His fear of the future makes him nastier than he really is. When he is with his<br />
fiancée he relaxes and becomes more like himself.<br />
She is John’s fiancée. She is a nice young girl, but is terribly afraid of what John’s loss<br />
may mean in her future life.<br />
Sidney Wyner; He is an unattractive, nasty, middle-aged man. He spends his time in the yard, snooping<br />
at his neighbours.<br />
Gregory;<br />
Mario;<br />
She is an extremely rich, handsome and imperious woman. She is attracted to Warren<br />
only as an object she can manipulate in a rather sadistic way, under the guise of helping<br />
him. She dresses in the height of fashion.<br />
He is a sensible, down to earth man of great understanding and empathy. He is a fish<br />
monger. He is lonely and a bit afraid of his involvement with the others, but by the end<br />
discovers that he <strong>love</strong>s <strong>Junie</strong> <strong>Moon</strong>.<br />
Small Roles – Part of the main characters’ memories.<br />
Guiles;<br />
He was Warren’s carer and guardian. A friend of both his parents. He is intelligent,<br />
educated and runs a gallery.<br />
Warren’s grandmother;<br />
Director of the Institution;<br />
She took Warren in after Guiles passed away. Could double as Mario’s<br />
grandmother.<br />
He is a business man, stern, understanding and professional in manner.<br />
He runs the institution which has taken on Arthur’s case.<br />
Arthur’s mother;<br />
<strong>Junie</strong>’s mother;<br />
Miss Grayson;<br />
She <strong>love</strong>s her son but is frustrated by the hospital system. When he was<br />
institutionalized, she and her husband left and never returned.<br />
She and her husband left <strong>Junie</strong> after the accident, to pursue their retirement<br />
plans.<br />
She is the secretary of the Institutional Director. Arthur is infatuated by her.<br />
She is kind and caring.<br />
Mario’s grandmother; She speaks English with a hint of Italian accent. Could double as Warren’s<br />
grandmother.
