For the first time the Burgen Tough Guy & Gal series is offering a specific event
for Secondary School students only and YES it is NZQA approved. This is the
ultimate Tough Guy & Gal Challenge for secondary school students! Take on other
students from around the country on this awesome and challenging course to win
the Toughest School Trophy. This extreme off-road running event is held on a
unique course with challenging obstacles. You can run, walk, push, crawl or climb
through a variety of natural and man-made obstacles, mud mud and more mud.
The event is open to male and female secondary school students, aged 12 and
above. There is also an ‘Older Brutes & Beauties’ grade to include teachers and
parent helpers.
EVENT DAY TIMETABLE
8.30am – 10.30am: Registration at venue

VENUE & COURSE DESCRIPTION
The event is based at the fantastic Woodhill Sands Events Centre on SH16 Woodhill,
only 12 minutes from the end of the North Western Motorway. Auckland provides
a spectacular course for your Tough Guy & Gal experience, including water trails, a
barb wire crawl, swamp crossings, bush trail, equestrian obstacles, open paddock
running, hill climbs, an A-Frame climb, wire rope bridge and climbing walls. .
A six kilometre (one lap) or 12 kilometre (two laps) options are available.
The facilities include hot showers, the Woodhill Sands café and free parking.

Numbers are limited to 2000 competitors.
ENTRY FEE
$45 per person. This is a special rate for schools that is only available for the 5th
July event. Competitors must be a current student of the school or a teacher/
parent helper.
HOW TO ENTER
Download a spread sheet template from the website, fill it out and email it to
emma@eventpromotions.co.nz. Your school will be invoiced for the entries and
can be paid with cheque or direct credit. Details at www.eventpromotions.co.nz
LATE/ON THE DAY ENTRY
Entries must be received before the 24th June 2013 to qualify for the discounted
school rate. Entries after this date will only be accepted if space available and will
be charged at $50 per person.
REFUND POLICY
No refunds will be given within 7 days of the event, no exceptions. Refunds prior
to this date will incur a $10 administration fee. In a case of natural disaster, entry
fees will not be refunded.
WAIVER & RELEASE STATEMENT
Every competitor under 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver & release
statement. . These can be downloaded from the website.

PRIZES & RESULTS
Plenty of spot prizes will be drawn randomly at prize-giving. You must be present
to be eligible for a spot prize. Merit prizes will be awarded to the top three male
and female competitors in each grade.
Prizes will also be awarded to the best costume and the ‘Brightest School’. Placings
and times will be recorded for all competitors. These will be available to download
from the website by 9am Saturday 6th July.
TOUGHEST SCHOOL TROPHY
The Toughest School Trophy will be determined by your school’s top three placings
across the Junior and Senior grades in the 12km event only. Your 6 combined placings
calculate your school score. There will be a male and female trophy up for grabs.
SOUVENIR EVENT CLOTHING
Limited numbers of souvenir event hoodies and t-shirts are available for purchase.

CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR
It is strongly advised that competitors wear a thermal polypropylene top and running
shoes during the event. You will get wet and muddy. Football or Rugby boots with
molded studs are acceptable, running spikes or boots with aluminium studs are
not permitted. A dry set of clothing, beanie and jacket is highly recommended
following your event. There are hot showers so bring a towel.
