<strong>Events</strong> <strong>Advisor</strong> Job Description<br />
Job Purpose<br />
The <strong>Events</strong> <strong>Advisor</strong> will work with the <strong>Sport</strong> & Recreation Manager and Leadership Team to<br />
grow the impact events have on increasing regular participation and commercial interest in the<br />
sector. In conjunction with the <strong>Sport</strong> & Recreation Manager, you will develop and monitor the<br />
impact of the <strong>Events</strong> Plan. You will lead the implementation of all event related initiatives,<br />
providing guidance and advice to The Team with their event specific planning. Your influence will<br />
ensure all events undertaken or supported by The Team align with the <strong>Events</strong> Plan. You will<br />
lead the delivery of our most significant events, providing direct support and guidance to The<br />
Team and external event providers. Reports to <strong>Sport</strong> & Recreation Manager.<br />

Responsibilities and Activities<br />
Collaborate with the <strong>Sport</strong> & Recreation<br />
manager to drive the implementation of all<br />
<strong>Sport</strong> <strong>Manawatu</strong> events tactics, including<br />
• Building business relationships to grow<br />
commercial opportunities around events.<br />
• Review alignment of current event menu<br />
and recommended events that are best<br />
aligned with the <strong>Events</strong> Plan.<br />
• 'Stretch' current <strong>Sport</strong> and Recreation<br />
event planning across our region, both<br />
internally and with external providers.<br />
• Oversight and management of external<br />
investment targeted at events into menu of<br />
defined events.<br />
Develop standard templates and guidelines for<br />
external providers and The Team to ensure<br />
that the integrity of events planning is upheld<br />
In conjunction with the <strong>Sport</strong> & Recreation<br />
Manager, ensure a menu of events exists that:<br />
• make it easier for families to participate in<br />
sport and recreation<br />
• make it easier for kids and youth to choose<br />
to be active<br />
• make it easy for people to find “places to<br />
play” and be active<br />

Person Specification<br />
The person in this position is expected to have the following:<br />
1. At least five years experience in the <strong>Sport</strong> & Recreation Sector;<br />
2. At least three years experience in <strong>Events</strong> planning and delivery<br />
3. Preferably two years experience in project management;<br />
4. Preferably a Tertiary qualification related to <strong>Sport</strong> or Recreation;<br />
5. Demonstrated ability to manage relationships, supervise, and collaborate with crossfunctional<br />
teams both internal and external;<br />
6. Demonstrated ability to work independently & handle multiple assignments concurrently<br />
through effective prioritisation and resource allocation;
