SPIRITUAL MASTER<br />
THE SOLE PROTECTOR<br />
om ajnana-timirandhasya jnananjana-salakayan<br />
caksur unmilitam yena tasmai sri-gurave namah<br />
Today is the 87th birth anniversary of my Spiritual Master - Om<br />
Vishnupada Paramahansa Paribrajakacharya 108 <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Sri</strong>mad <strong>Bhakti</strong><br />
<strong>Vaibhava</strong> <strong>Puri</strong> Goswami Maharaj. At the outset I eulogize the fifth day of<br />
the wane period of the moon in the month of Magha, as on this auspicious<br />
day <strong>Sri</strong>la <strong>Bhakti</strong> <strong>Vaibhava</strong> <strong>Puri</strong> Goswami Maharaj descended from the<br />
eternal abode of the Supreme Lord - 'Golaka Brindavana' to this mundane<br />
world to redeem the fallen souls. I pray this day to enlighten my heart by<br />
removing the darkness of ignorance and bless me to serve the Lotus- feet<br />
of my Spiritual Master.<br />
All the material elements including our body are perishable in nature. On<br />
the other hand devotee, devotion, Lord, His abode, etc. are eternal. Due to<br />
ignorance a person falls in the clutches of illusion and remains aloof from<br />
the service of Lord. Being enchanted by the agents of Maya such as<br />
ignorance, false prestige, sense enjoyment, etc. he wants to accumulate<br />
more wealth in order to enjoy material happiness. He wants to acquire<br />
those things which will help him in getting mundane bliss. But with such<br />
material wealth one cannot free himself from the snare of Maya, so also he<br />
cannot get actual happiness. The Supreme personality of Godhead <strong>Sri</strong><br />
Krishna is the storehouse of eternal bliss. So complete surrender unto the<br />
Lotus feet of the Lord would provide all sorts of pleasure.<br />
There are several ways to reach the Lord such as Karmjajoga, Gnanajoga,<br />
<strong>Bhakti</strong>joga, etc. Out of these paths <strong>Bhakti</strong>joga is the best and most<br />
practicable way to attain <strong>Sri</strong> Krishna. One cannot reach the Supreme Lord<br />
<strong>Sri</strong> Krishna directly without the help of a Spiritual Master. The Spiritual<br />
Master plays a pivotal role in the path to divinity. The Spirtual Master is<br />
the representative of <strong>Sri</strong> Krishna: He is the sole sailor to rescue the<br />
drowned persons from this mundane ocean. His causeless mercy is the<br />
only shelter for attaining the highest goal of human life i.e. Krishna Prema.<br />
<strong>Guru</strong>deva is the emperor in the empire of <strong>Bhakti</strong>. Nobody can understand<br />
the spiritual master with the help of his material knowledge. Every
