CHAPTER FOUR - DATA ANALYSIS
Introduction
Chapter four is a collective analysis of the data generated in the three methods
employed by this research, the literature review, a focus group held with male victims
of domestic violence (Appendix 4) and individual interviews with three social workers
(Appendix 5) working in the areas of medical, child protection and the community. The
structure of the data analysis will follow the dissertation research themes (Appendix 1).
Each section will begin with an analysis of the literature followed by the focus group
and conclude with the social work interviews.
Domestic violence and society in relation to male victims.
An analysis of the literature revealed the following. Cose (1995) put forward that the
majority of society view the idea of a man being a victim of domestic violence as a
laughable situation. There seems to be an overall consensus from Lucal (1995), Wiehe
