National Research Seminar<br />
One day National Seminar on “Role of Commerce and Management<br />
in the Development of Indian Economy” organized by<br />
SVIMS in collaboration with All India Social Research Association,<br />
Mumbai on 4th January. About 30 research scholars from various<br />
colleges across Mumbai participated in the seminar. Dr. Arvind Dhond,<br />
Executive Editor of Research Cell inaugurated the seminar. He<br />
highlighted the importance of genuine research in the field of<br />
Commerce and Management.<br />
Uthaan<br />
Uthaan is state level intercollegiate annual event conducted by<br />
SVIMS. In its second edition this year it was held over two days<br />
on 27th & 28th of February. More than 500 participants of more<br />
than 30 colleges all over Maharashtra contested in various<br />
competitions to win more than Rs. 1,00,000/- worth of prizes. The<br />
Preliminary rounds were conducted in more than 50 colleges<br />
all over Maharashtra wherein more than 5000 students participated<br />
and the toppers were invited to be part of the Grand Finale. The<br />
whole program was designed, planned and executed successfully<br />
by our MMS students. This gave them first hand experience of<br />
Event Management.<br />
Pace HR Resource Certification<br />
Actual hands on training on payroll package - from how to recruit an<br />
employee followed by induction was taught to the SVIMS students.<br />
Important statutory compliances were addressed and valuable tips were<br />
given on how to perform in an interview. The students were informed<br />
about how to fill up PF and ESIC forms and also how a CTC for an<br />
employee. Topics covered were, Recruitment process, Day to day HR<br />
activities, Compensation and Benefits, Labor Laws, Payroll<br />
processing on excel and on Saral Pay Pack software.<br />
CRISIL Workshop<br />
SVIMS has subscribed CRISIL Research Platform which provides<br />
ratings, research, risk and policy advisory services. The data and<br />
the analysis provided by Crisil help the students as well as the faculty<br />
to understand the industry in a better perspective. A workshop by<br />
CRISIL was organized on 12th October in our Campus.<br />
Industrial Visit<br />
First year MMS students went to Nashik & Saputara for their<br />
Industrial Visit from 28th October to 31st October, 2014. They<br />
visited factories of Mahindra & Mahindra , Ring Aqua Plus,<br />
Macrocables Pvt. Ltd. , and VIP Industries. They had exposure<br />
to various production processes, TQM, HR policies of organizations<br />
and also were made aware of various factory layouts. They stayed<br />
at Manas Resorts on Nashik Highway experiencing the countryside<br />
at its best. They also visited Saputara which is Gujrat’s only<br />
Hill Station and enjoyed the boat ride and picturesque<br />
scenes during the ropeway ride which starts from<br />
v a r i e t y R e s o r t a n d e n d s a t S u n s e t p o i n t .<br />
SVIMS-SPARSH<br />
“SPARSH 2014” in the month of September was an annual event<br />
organized by the students where in the faculty was honored and<br />
the parents were informed about the pedagogy of the institute by<br />
prof. Ganpati kattige . The function was inaugurated by Mr. Iyenger<br />
vice president NKES followed by song invoking god sung by first<br />
year students and a welcome dance by second year students .<br />
The further function consisted of all the students from first year<br />
and second year performing cultural dances ,songs and skit.<br />
BITS Pilani Waves<br />
“Waves” is an annual cultural fest of Birla Institute of Technology &<br />
Science, Pilani-Goa Campus. It is a three-day long festival held in the<br />
late October-early November period each year. Students from our<br />
college visited BITS Pilani Goa and hosted events like management<br />
games & quizzes. The students were the supporting members of the<br />
judging team for the Event named-Enterprise catalyst, an event to<br />
support and promote entrepreneurship among young blood
