An Advocate By Profession, Shri. Doreswamy Has<br />
Established Himself In The Area Of Banking In Finance.<br />
He Was The Chairman And Managing Director At Two<br />
Large Indian Banks, Dena Bank And Central Bank Of India.<br />
He Was An Advisor To The Indian Institute Of Banking And<br />
Finance. He Is Currently A Consultant To Several Companies<br />
And Is Also The Chairman Of Canfin Homes Ltd.<br />
Dr. H. S. Srinivasan<br />
Dr. Srinivas is a Mechanical Engineer from Hassan,<br />
Karnataka and a PhD from University of Mumbai. He was<br />
part of VJTI from 1970 and is an authority of<br />
Production Engineering. During his career, he was the<br />
Vice Principal of VJTI and Dean, Faculty of Technology<br />
at University of Mumbai and later the Principal at<br />
Watumal College of Technology. He has been part of<br />
several powered committees set up by the Governement<br />
in order to upgrade Technical Education in Maharashtra.<br />
Dr. B. R. Manjunath<br />
A trained Physicist and a Doctorate from the university of<br />
Strthclyde, UK. Dr. Manjunath has held several<br />
Leadership roles in public and private organizations.<br />
He was the Director at the Central Testing Laboratory,<br />
Textiles Committee Ministry of Commerce as well as<br />
Director of Vigilance with the Ministry for close to a<br />
decade. Subsequently he was the Director and CEO at<br />
Intexa India, a quality control & certification company and<br />
the Executive Director and CEO of Intertek India Pvt Ltd<br />
before becoming the Global CEO for the multinational<br />
parent, Intertek Global, Information Technology. Apart<br />
from his professional excellence, Dr. Manjunath is an<br />
acclaimed Playwright, Actor and Director.<br />
Mr. K. Manjunathiah<br />
Mechanical Engineer by Education, A retired Scientist from<br />
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in the field of high Cacuum<br />
technology. Manjunathiah also holds a Diploma<br />
in Systems Management from JBIMS. Ex-Director,<br />
Idotherm Instruments Pvt. Ltd. and has successfully<br />
established a precision equipement company-<br />
Quantum Services. He is also a well known Theatre<br />

Miss Kamala K<br />
Ms. Kamala is a chartered Accountant with over decades of<br />
experience in the field of Finance. Currently she is a<br />

Banglore Stock Exchange Ltd. and the concurrent CEO<br />

Mr. Madhusudan Mandyan<br />
CEO of Virgin Mobile India, Madhu is a commerce graduate<br />
with more than 25 years of experience in the field of<br />
Marketing. He has been associated with the telecom<br />
industry from its early growth phase in India as the President<br />
of Tata Teleservices where he played several leadership<br />
roles. He has already created a name for himself through<br />
various accolades that Virgin Mobile has achieved for<br />
customer satisfaction in its debut operations in India. Apart<br />

Mr. Jaytheerth Rao<br />

program exposing them to various management games, business simulation games etc.<br />
There were also sessions by Prof. Rakesh Vanarase on “Goal Setting”,<br />
Prof. Prema Yadav on “Discover Yourself”, “Budget 2014-15” session by<br />
Prof. Kirna Yadav, Prof. Subroto Ghosal on “Time Management”, Prof. Bharat Nadkarni<br />
on “Business Excellence”, Prof. Yogita Patil on “Innovative Business Plan”,<br />

on”Introduction to Accounting for Managers”. These sessions provided requisite<br />

As a part of this program, they were taken to 3 days Durshet - Nature Trails Resort.<br />
Students had a great time participating in adventure sports like rapelling, river rafting<br />
crossing the bridge and various team games. These activities help them to get<br />
themselves ready for the rigors of two years of fun filled learning of management<br />
skills needed for their fruitful career.

Operations Seminar - Operation Orienter<br />
The Operations department organized a seminar on 16th September.<br />
This seminar had renowned speakers from the industry like<br />
Mr. Janardhan Kamath, Mr. Prakash Sahasrabuddhe, Mr. Amit<br />
Bandopadhyay, Prof. Kagal sharing their experiences on Quality<br />
Management System, Human Capital requirement for meeting Total<br />
Quality Management in the Service Sector, Application of ERP in<br />
Manufacturing and Critical Inventory Management and Quality Control<br />
Systems. All the students had an opportunity to interact with all<br />
the speakers and quench their curiosity on the topics. This interaction<br />
increased students’ depth of experiential knowledge which added to<br />
their theoretical concepts of Operations Management<br />
E-commerce and Retail Seminar - “Evolve”<br />
E-commerce and Retail Seminar on “Driving Growth through Retail<br />
and E-commerce platforms in the 21st Century” was held<br />
at Nehru centre, worli on 16th & 17th May. The Seminar provided a<br />
platform for discussion on various perspectives of Retail and<br />
E-commerce. It explored the opportunities in the massive growth in<br />
the field of Retail and E-commerce thus giving a panoramic<br />
view of the sector and providing and open forum for<br />
discussions. The key areas of discussions were Policy issues<br />
Emerging Trends in Management & Driving Growth in the Retail<br />
& E-commerce business formats. Mr. Kartik Jain of Infibeam<br />
emphasized the importance of e-commerce in companies & shared<br />
his experience of using e-commerce platform to grow his business.<br />
Mr. Vinayak Bahat of Factset talked about the Policies affecting<br />
the Retail and E-commerce industry after FDI.<br />
Packaging Workshop<br />
SIES-School of Packaging endeavors to groom professionals<br />
dedicated to the cause of developing packaging that is functionally<br />
efficient with quality parameters confirming to the international<br />
standards, while being cost effective and environment-friendly. It<br />
designs programs that will prepare packaging professionals of<br />
tomorrow capable of meeting the challenges of the future. It<br />
gives support to expand and establish facilities to meet industry,<br />
country and global needs. Our students attended introductory<br />
seminar on the packaging technology and got the opportunity to<br />
know more about the packaging industry.<br />
SIM’ergence 14 at Bombay Stock Exchange<br />
The SVIMS Students attended the SIM’ergence at BSE, Mumbai<br />
on 14th March, 2014. Our Student took part in discussions with<br />

National Research Seminar<br />
One day National Seminar on “Role of Commerce and Management<br />
in the Development of Indian Economy” organized by<br />
SVIMS in collaboration with All India Social Research Association,<br />
Mumbai on 4th January. About 30 research scholars from various<br />
colleges across Mumbai participated in the seminar. Dr. Arvind Dhond,<br />
Executive Editor of Research Cell inaugurated the seminar. He<br />
highlighted the importance of genuine research in the field of<br />
Commerce and Management.<br />
Uthaan<br />
Uthaan is state level intercollegiate annual event conducted by<br />
SVIMS. In its second edition this year it was held over two days<br />
on 27th & 28th of February. More than 500 participants of more<br />
than 30 colleges all over Maharashtra contested in various<br />
competitions to win more than Rs. 1,00,000/- worth of prizes. The<br />
Preliminary rounds were conducted in more than 50 colleges<br />
all over Maharashtra wherein more than 5000 students participated<br />
and the toppers were invited to be part of the Grand Finale. The<br />
whole program was designed, planned and executed successfully<br />
by our MMS students. This gave them first hand experience of<br />
Event Management.<br />
Pace HR Resource Certification<br />
Actual hands on training on payroll package - from how to recruit an<br />
employee followed by induction was taught to the SVIMS students.<br />
Important statutory compliances were addressed and valuable tips were<br />
given on how to perform in an interview. The students were informed<br />
about how to fill up PF and ESIC forms and also how a CTC for an<br />
employee. Topics covered were, Recruitment process, Day to day HR<br />
activities, Compensation and Benefits, Labor Laws, Payroll<br />
processing on excel and on Saral Pay Pack software.<br />
CRISIL Workshop<br />
SVIMS has subscribed CRISIL Research Platform which provides<br />
ratings, research, risk and policy advisory services. The data and<br />
the analysis provided by Crisil help the students as well as the faculty<br />
to understand the industry in a better perspective. A workshop by<br />
CRISIL was organized on 12th October in our Campus.<br />
Industrial Visit<br />
First year MMS students went to Nashik & Saputara for their<br />
Industrial Visit from 28th October to 31st October, 2014. They<br />
visited factories of Mahindra & Mahindra , Ring Aqua Plus,<br />
Macrocables Pvt. Ltd. , and VIP Industries. They had exposure<br />
to various production processes, TQM, HR policies of organizations<br />
and also were made aware of various factory layouts. They stayed<br />
at Manas Resorts on Nashik Highway experiencing the countryside<br />
at its best. They also visited Saputara which is Gujrat’s only<br />
Hill Station and enjoyed the boat ride and picturesque<br />
scenes during the ropeway ride which starts from<br />
v a r i e t y R e s o r t a n d e n d s a t S u n s e t p o i n t .<br />
SVIMS-SPARSH<br />
“SPARSH 2014” in the month of September was an annual event<br />
organized by the students where in the faculty was honored and<br />
the parents were informed about the pedagogy of the institute by<br />
prof. Ganpati kattige . The function was inaugurated by Mr. Iyenger<br />
vice president NKES followed by song invoking god sung by first<br />
year students and a welcome dance by second year students .<br />
The further function consisted of all the students from first year<br />
and second year performing cultural dances ,songs and skit.<br />
BITS Pilani Waves<br />
“Waves” is an annual cultural fest of Birla Institute of Technology &<br />
Science, Pilani-Goa Campus. It is a three-day long festival held in the<br />
late October-early November period each year. Students from our<br />
college visited BITS Pilani Goa and hosted events like management<br />
games & quizzes. The students were the supporting members of the<br />
judging team for the Event named-Enterprise catalyst, an event to<br />
support and promote entrepreneurship among young blood
Industrial Research Survey<br />
Our students were involved in a week long Industrial Research<br />
S u r v e y f o r P e t r o l e u m a n d N a t u r a l G a s<br />
Regulatory Board of India to assess the demand for<br />
Natural Gas in 3 districts in Maharashtra and 2 Union<br />
territories during the month of December as a part of<br />
Winter Internship. During the Internship, our students<br />
travelled to various Industrial zones, hubs and Government<br />
Institutions of the region to gather the data. Our students got<br />
to interview people from manufacturing industry which gave<br />
them a first-hand experience in Market Research.

SVIMS is associated with International Institute of Peace Through Tourism(IIPT) for its International Immersion program<br />
this year. Our students had been to South Africa as a part of this initiative and attended an International Symposium<br />
conducted by IIPT and were able to interact with international dignitaries like Ms.Nandi Mandela, grand daughter of<br />
Mr.Nelson Mandela and Mrs.Naomi King, Sister in law of great Martin Luther King, Jr. and<br />
Dr.Taleb Rifai, Secretary General UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).Our students also<br />
visited world's richest gold mine, First National Bank Stadium(FNB), Orlando Power Station,<br />
Lesedi African Cultural Village as a part of this international immersion program.<br />
SVIMS has recently signed a MOU with IIPT CCU (IIPT's Consortium of Collaborating Universities) Recently IIPT INDIA<br />
launched the educational initiative in tourism and hospitality, "Educators Network Forum" (ENF), at SVIMS which was<br />
inaugurated by chief guest Mrs. Valsa Nair Singh, Secretary - Tourism, Government of Maharashtra and<br />
Dr Sitikantha Mishra, Chairman, Board of Tourism & Hospitality Studies, AICTE. The IIPTI Educators Network Forum<br />
is part of IIPT's global Consortium of Collaborating Universities which seeks to facilitate student exchange<br />
programs and faculty interaction amongst the 22 international universities that currently comprise it.<br />
Coming year the International Immersion program is planning to cover New York( UN General Assembly) and Columbia.<br />
Harvard Business School Field 2 at SVIMS<br />
A team of 6 Harvard Business School students visited Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies & Research,<br />
Wadala, Mumbai on 7th January 2015. They were in Mumbai as a part of their Field 2 immersion program. In the<br />
Field Immersion Experience for Leadership Development (FIELD) -2 program the first year HBS students are required<br />
to visit emerging markets like India and develop a new concept or product. At SVIMS they met students from<br />
various management colleges from Mumbai. Also they had a fruitful discussion with a group of first year MMS<br />
students from SVIMS on various topics.
