An Advocate By Profession, Shri. Doreswamy Has
Established Himself In The Area Of Banking In Finance.
He Was The Chairman And Managing Director At Two
Large Indian Banks, Dena Bank And Central Bank Of India.
He Was An Advisor To The Indian Institute Of Banking And
Finance. He Is Currently A Consultant To Several Companies
And Is Also The Chairman Of Canfin Homes Ltd.
Dr. H. S. Srinivasan
Dr. Srinivas is a Mechanical Engineer from Hassan,
Karnataka and a PhD from University of Mumbai. He was
part of VJTI from 1970 and is an authority of
Production Engineering. During his career, he was the
Vice Principal of VJTI and Dean, Faculty of Technology
at University of Mumbai and later the Principal at
Watumal College of Technology. He has been part of
several powered committees set up by the Governement
in order to upgrade Technical Education in Maharashtra.
Dr. B. R. Manjunath
A trained Physicist and a Doctorate from the university of
Strthclyde, UK. Dr. Manjunath has held several
Leadership roles in public and private organizations.
He was the Director at the Central Testing Laboratory,
Textiles Committee Ministry of Commerce as well as
Director of Vigilance with the Ministry for close to a
decade. Subsequently he was the Director and CEO at
Intexa India, a quality control & certification company and
the Executive Director and CEO of Intertek India Pvt Ltd
before becoming the Global CEO for the multinational
parent, Intertek Global, Information Technology. Apart
from his professional excellence, Dr. Manjunath is an
acclaimed Playwright, Actor and Director.
Mr. K. Manjunathiah
Mechanical Engineer by Education, A retired Scientist from
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in the field of high Cacuum
technology. Manjunathiah also holds a Diploma
in Systems Management from JBIMS. Ex-Director,
Idotherm Instruments Pvt. Ltd. and has successfully
established a precision equipement company-

Miss Kamala K
Ms. Kamala is a chartered Accountant with over decades of
experience in the field of Finance. Currently she is a
Vice President of National Stock Exchange of India Ltd.
Earlier, she has been the Executive Director at the
Banglore Stock Exchange Ltd. and the concurrent CEO
of BGSE Financials Ltd, a subsidiary of Banglore Stock
Exchange Ltd. She also served at Institutions like IL&FS
Invest Smart, Indian Institute of Management, Banglore
and Power Finance Corporation of India. She is associated
with several academic and preofessional Institutions as
a Guest Faculty.
Mr. Madhusudan Mandyan
CEO of Virgin Mobile India, Madhu is a commerce graduate
with more than 25 years of experience in the field of
Marketing. He has been associated with the telecom
industry from its early growth phase in India as the President
of Tata Teleservices where he played several leadership
roles. He has already created a name for himself through
various accolades that Virgin Mobile has achieved for
customer satisfaction in its debut operations in India. Apart

Mr. Jaytheerth Rao
Jerry Rao is synonymous with Mphasis, established IT
company where he was the founding Chairman. In his
experience spanning more than 30 years, he has held
leadership roles at Citicorp. He was the past Chairman of
NASSCOM and an illustrious alumnus of University of
Chicago and Indian Institute of Management , Ahmedabad.
Dr. K Kasturirangan

We encourage students from varied backgrounds to take admission to our MMS Program.
To empower the varied backgrounds students to understand the scope, structure
and pedagogy of the program. We conduct 3 weeks of fun filled rigorous orientation
program exposing them to various management games, business simulation games etc.
There were also sessions by Prof. Rakesh Vanarase on “Goal Setting”,
Prof. Prema Yadav on “Discover Yourself”, “Budget 2014-15” session by
Prof. Kirna Yadav, Prof. Subroto Ghosal on “Time Management”, Prof. Bharat Nadkarni
on “Business Excellence”, Prof. Yogita Patil on “Innovative Business Plan”,
Prof. Ganapati Kattige on “Manufacturing Excellence” and Prof. Ananthkrishanan
on”Introduction to Accounting for Managers”. These sessions provided requisite
base to the students on which they can build up to enhance their

As a part of this program, they were taken to 3 days Durshet - Nature Trails Resort.
Students had a great time participating in adventure sports like rapelling, river rafting
crossing the bridge and various team games. These activities help them to get
themselves ready for the rigors of two years of fun filled learning of management

HR Seminar - “Talent O Scope”
“Talent O Scope” - HR Seminar was held on 29 October, where
eminent speakers from the Industry came and addressed the
c u r r e n t H R c h a l l e n g e s a n d t r e n d s . T h e s t u d e n t s
h a d a n o p p o r t u n i t y t o i n t e r a c t w i t h t h e s p e a k e r s
and to start networking with professionals in the industry. The
daylong seminar included talks on Role and Relevance of Industrial
Relations today and how to attract and retain talent.
Opportunities and Challenges in Employee engagement and Global
Perspective for HRM in India was also discussed.
Operations Seminar - Operation Orienter
The Operations department organized a seminar on 16th September.
This seminar had renowned speakers from the industry like
Mr. Janardhan Kamath, Mr. Prakash Sahasrabuddhe, Mr. Amit
Bandopadhyay, Prof. Kagal sharing their experiences on Quality
Management System, Human Capital requirement for meeting Total
Quality Management in the Service Sector, Application of ERP in
Manufacturing and Critical Inventory Management and Quality Control
Systems. All the students had an opportunity to interact with all
the speakers and quench their curiosity on the topics. This interaction
increased students’ depth of experiential knowledge which added to
their theoretical concepts of Operations Management
E-commerce and Retail Seminar - “Evolve”
E-commerce and Retail Seminar on “Driving Growth through Retail
and E-commerce platforms in the 21st Century” was held
at Nehru centre, worli on 16th & 17th May. The Seminar provided a
platform for discussion on various perspectives of Retail and
E-commerce. It explored the opportunities in the massive growth in
the field of Retail and E-commerce thus giving a panoramic
view of the sector and providing and open forum for
discussions. The key areas of discussions were Policy issues
Emerging Trends in Management & Driving Growth in the Retail
& E-commerce business formats. Mr. Kartik Jain of Infibeam
emphasized the importance of e-commerce in companies & shared
his experience of using e-commerce platform to grow his business.
Mr. Vinayak Bahat of Factset talked about the Policies affecting
the Retail and E-commerce industry after FDI.
Packaging Workshop
SIES-School of Packaging endeavors to groom professionals
dedicated to the cause of developing packaging that is functionally
efficient with quality parameters confirming to the international
standards, while being cost effective and environment-friendly. It
designs programs that will prepare packaging professionals of
tomorrow capable of meeting the challenges of the future. It
gives support to expand and establish facilities to meet industry,
country and global needs. Our students attended introductory
seminar on the packaging technology and got the opportunity to
know more about the packaging industry.
SIM’ergence 14 at Bombay Stock Exchange
The SVIMS Students attended the SIM’ergence at BSE, Mumbai

Mumbai on 4th January. About 30 research scholars from various
colleges across Mumbai participated in the seminar. Dr. Arvind Dhond,
Executive Editor of Research Cell inaugurated the seminar. He
highlighted the importance of genuine research in the field of
Commerce and Management.
Uthaan
Uthaan is state level intercollegiate annual event conducted by
SVIMS. In its second edition this year it was held over two days
on 27th & 28th of February. More than 500 participants of more
than 30 colleges all over Maharashtra contested in various
competitions to win more than Rs. 1,00,000/- worth of prizes. The
Preliminary rounds were conducted in more than 50 colleges
all over Maharashtra wherein more than 5000 students participated
and the toppers were invited to be part of the Grand Finale. The
whole program was designed, planned and executed successfully
by our MMS students. This gave them first hand experience of
Event Management.
Pace HR Resource Certification
Actual hands on training on payroll package - from how to recruit an
employee followed by induction was taught to the SVIMS students.
Important statutory compliances were addressed and valuable tips were
given on how to perform in an interview. The students were informed
about how to fill up PF and ESIC forms and also how a CTC for an
employee. Topics covered were, Recruitment process, Day to day HR
activities, Compensation and Benefits, Labor Laws, Payroll
processing on excel and on Saral Pay Pack software.
CRISIL Workshop
SVIMS has subscribed CRISIL Research Platform which provides
ratings, research, risk and policy advisory services. The data and
the analysis provided by Crisil help the students as well as the faculty
to understand the industry in a better perspective. A workshop by
CRISIL was organized on 12th October in our Campus.
Industrial Visit
First year MMS students went to Nashik & Saputara for their
Industrial Visit from 28th October to 31st October, 2014. They
visited factories of Mahindra & Mahindra , Ring Aqua Plus,
Macrocables Pvt. Ltd. , and VIP Industries. They had exposure
to various production processes, TQM, HR policies of organizations
and also were made aware of various factory layouts. They stayed
at Manas Resorts on Nashik Highway experiencing the countryside
at its best. They also visited Saputara which is Gujrat’s only
Hill Station and enjoyed the boat ride and picturesque
scenes during the ropeway ride which starts from
v a r i e t y R e s o r t a n d e n d s a t S u n s e t p o i n t .
SVIMS-SPARSH
“SPARSH 2014” in the month of September was an annual event
organized by the students where in the faculty was honored and
the parents were informed about the pedagogy of the institute by
prof. Ganpati kattige . The function was inaugurated by Mr. Iyenger
vice president NKES followed by song invoking god sung by first
year students and a welcome dance by second year students .
The further function consisted of all the students from first year
and second year performing cultural dances ,songs and skit.
BITS Pilani Waves
“Waves” is an annual cultural fest of Birla Institute of Technology &
Science, Pilani-Goa Campus. It is a three-day long festival held in the
late October-early November period each year. Students from our
college visited BITS Pilani Goa and hosted events like management
games & quizzes. The students were the supporting members of the
judging team for the Event named-Enterprise catalyst, an event to
support and promote entrepreneurship among young blood

Industrial Research Survey
Our students were involved in a week long Industrial Research
S u r v e y f o r P e t r o l e u m a n d N a t u r a l G a s
Regulatory Board of India to assess the demand for
Natural Gas in 3 districts in Maharashtra and 2 Union
territories during the month of December as a part of
Winter Internship. During the Internship, our students
travelled to various Industrial zones, hubs and Government
Institutions of the region to gather the data. Our students got
to interview people from manufacturing industry which gave
them a first-hand experience in Market Research.

SVIMS is associated with International Institute of Peace Through Tourism(IIPT) for its International Immersion program
this year. Our students had been to South Africa as a part of this initiative and attended an International Symposium
conducted by IIPT and were able to interact with international dignitaries like Ms.Nandi Mandela, grand daughter of
Mr.Nelson Mandela and Mrs.Naomi King, Sister in law of great Martin Luther King, Jr. and
Dr.Taleb Rifai, Secretary General UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).Our students also
visited world's richest gold mine, First National Bank Stadium(FNB), Orlando Power Station,
Lesedi African Cultural Village as a part of this international immersion program.
SVIMS has recently signed a MOU with IIPT CCU (IIPT's Consortium of Collaborating Universities) Recently IIPT INDIA
launched the educational initiative in tourism and hospitality, "Educators Network Forum" (ENF), at SVIMS which was
inaugurated by chief guest Mrs. Valsa Nair Singh, Secretary - Tourism, Government of Maharashtra and
Dr Sitikantha Mishra, Chairman, Board of Tourism & Hospitality Studies, AICTE. The IIPTI Educators Network Forum
is part of IIPT's global Consortium of Collaborating Universities which seeks to facilitate student exchange
programs and faculty interaction amongst the 22 international universities that currently comprise it.
Coming year the International Immersion program is planning to cover New York( UN General Assembly) and Columbia.
Harvard Business School Field 2 at SVIMS
A team of 6 Harvard Business School students visited Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies & Research,
Wadala, Mumbai on 7th January 2015. They were in Mumbai as a part of their Field 2 immersion program. In the
Field Immersion Experience for Leadership Development (FIELD) -2 program the first year HBS students are required
to visit emerging markets like India and develop a new concept or product. At SVIMS they met students from
various management colleges from Mumbai. Also they had a fruitful discussion with a group of first year MMS
students from SVIMS on various topics.
