Inauguration of Evolve Seminar<br />

HR Seminar - “Talent O Scope”<br />

“Talent O Scope” - HR Seminar was held on 29 October, where<br />

eminent speakers from the Industry came and addressed the<br />

c u r r e n t H R c h a l l e n g e s a n d t r e n d s . T h e s t u d e n t s<br />

h a d a n o p p o r t u n i t y t o i n t e r a c t w i t h t h e s p e a k e r s<br />

and to start networking with professionals in the industry. The<br />

daylong seminar included talks on Role and Relevance of Industrial<br />

Relations today and how to attract and retain talent.<br />

Opportunities and Challenges in Employee engagement and Global<br />

Perspective for HRM in India was also discussed.<br />

Operations Seminar - Operation Orienter<br />

The Operations department organized a seminar on 16th September.<br />

This seminar had renowned speakers from the industry like<br />

Mr. Janardhan Kamath, Mr. Prakash Sahasrabuddhe, Mr. Amit<br />

Bandopadhyay, Prof. Kagal sharing their experiences on Quality<br />

Management System, Human Capital requirement for meeting Total<br />

Quality Management in the Service Sector, Application of ERP in<br />

Manufacturing and Critical Inventory Management and Quality Control<br />

Systems. All the students had an opportunity to interact with all<br />

the speakers and quench their curiosity on the topics. This interaction<br />

increased students’ depth of experiential knowledge which added to<br />

their theoretical concepts of Operations Management<br />

E-commerce and Retail Seminar - “Evolve”<br />

E-commerce and Retail Seminar on “Driving Growth through Retail<br />

and E-commerce platforms in the 21st Century” was held<br />

at Nehru centre, worli on 16th & 17th May. The Seminar provided a<br />

platform for discussion on various perspectives of Retail and<br />

E-commerce. It explored the opportunities in the massive growth in<br />

the field of Retail and E-commerce thus giving a panoramic<br />

view of the sector and providing and open forum for<br />

discussions. The key areas of discussions were Policy issues<br />

Emerging Trends in Management & Driving Growth in the Retail<br />

& E-commerce business formats. Mr. Kartik Jain of Infibeam<br />

emphasized the importance of e-commerce in companies & shared<br />

his experience of using e-commerce platform to grow his business.<br />

Mr. Vinayak Bahat of Factset talked about the Policies affecting<br />

the Retail and E-commerce industry after FDI.<br />

Packaging Workshop<br />

SIES-School of Packaging endeavors to groom professionals<br />

dedicated to the cause of developing packaging that is functionally<br />

efficient with quality parameters confirming to the international<br />

standards, while being cost effective and environment-friendly. It<br />

designs programs that will prepare packaging professionals of<br />

tomorrow capable of meeting the challenges of the future. It<br />

gives support to expand and establish facilities to meet industry,<br />

country and global needs. Our students attended introductory<br />

seminar on the packaging technology and got the opportunity to<br />

know more about the packaging industry.<br />

SIM’ergence 14 at Bombay Stock Exchange<br />

The SVIMS Students attended the SIM’ergence at BSE, Mumbai<br />

on 14th March, 2014. Our Student took part in discussions with<br />

Industry Leaders in the open forum. Corporate Czars and<br />

Business leaders who spoke on this occasion were<br />
