JCCC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:
The JCCC Annual General meeting is being held on Monday June
25, 2007 at 7:30 pm. There will be messages from the President
and the Executive Director and updates on our Expansion and
Legacy committees, as well as financial reports. Please be sure to
attend and be informed about your centre. Agenda and proxy are
included in this newsletter.
ARIGATO DAY
The spirit of community and volunteerism
is the foundation on which the JCCC
is built. Throughout the year many
individuals and groups selflessly support
the various programs and special events
held at the JCCC. As a small token of
their gratitude, the JCCC Board of
Directors invites all the volunteers to join
them at Arigato Day.
On Sunday July 22, 2007 at
3:00pm, Arigato Day will start with an
informal social time, a chance to relax
and have some fun with your family and
friends. At 5:00pm the Board of Directors will serve dinner. The
event will finish with an award ceremony, including the recognition
of the 2007 recipients of the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards
sponsored by the Government of Ontario.

NOSTALGIA NIGHT 2007
The JCCC Heritage Committee is presenting Nostalgia Night 2007
on Saturday July 7, 2007 in the Kobayashi Hall at the Japanese
Canadian Cultural Centre.
This year we will be recognizing the Dance Clubs of the 1950s
to the 1990s and the Women’s Auxiliary of the Japanese Canadian
Cultural Centre.
Japanese Canadians were
scattered throughout the Toronto
area during the post war period.
Numerous dance clubs over the
years were the venues at which
Japanese Canadians were able to
meet and socialize as well as learn
social and ballroom dancing with
Sunday Niters other Nikkei’s in the Metro Toronto
area.
The Women’s Auxiliary of the Centre played a major role in
the development of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre since
they were responsible for preparing the food at the numerous
fundraising functions and special occasions at the Centre.
Come and reminisce about the old days, meet some of the
former instructors, hear stories about how the ladies struggled in
the past to prepare food.
The evening will again feature the fabulous Japanese Canadian
soul cuisine with old time favorites as well as other goodies. Bring
the whole family, friends, and relatives as we celebrate the history
of the Japanese Canadian experience.
The festivities are
scheduled from 3:00pm to
8:00pm Admission is $5
for members and $7 for
non-members. Attendees
who bring a recipe and a
story related to the recipe
for the JCCC Cookbook
JCCC Women's Auxiliary
project will be admitted free. Pre-registration is preferred. Please

Caledon Place
FREE! 30TH ANNUAL JC COMMUNITY
PICNIC AT CALEDON PLACE
30 years of outdoor fun! Gather your families and friends and
spend a fun-filled day at the 30th Annual Japanese Canadian
Community Picnic to be held at Caledon Place on Sunday July 1,
2007. Many families hold their “summer get-together” at Caledon
Place on July 1 - why don’t you do the same? You can partake
in the ever-popular afternoon bingo, games and races for children
and the young at heart. A pond stocked with trout awaits fishermen
entering the fishing derby. The day ends with a Share-the-Wealth
raffle and Fukubiki draw. Please bring your friends, family, plenty
of drinking water and “bento” and enjoy Canada Day in the great
outdoors. This year admission is free and there will be a free gift
for the first 250 cars - all courtesy of Marty Kobayashi of Dundee

Caledon Place is on the west side of Highway 10, approximately
1.5 km north of the Town of Caledon (see flyer for more details).
The gate opens at 8:30am.
