Carlsbadweek …<br />
… a week of travel fi lms and spa therapy<br />
<strong>In</strong> just a month, Karlovy Vary will be<br />
hosting another festival. From 7 to 11<br />
October the 4th annual Carlsbadweek<br />
will take place, sponsored by Minister<br />
for Regional Development, <strong>In</strong>g. Rostislav<br />
Vondruška, including the oldest festival of<br />
tourism-themed fi lms, TOURFILM.<br />
Th is year, the Czech Centre for Tourism – CzechTourism has prepared a<br />
number of things a little bit diff erently for you – the citizens of Karlovy<br />
Vary and surroundings. We have tried to get our activities to be closer to<br />
you – TOURFILM 2009 will take place for the most part in the Th ermal<br />
Hotel and the talks with travellers and fi lms will be moved to the evening<br />
so that those who work can make them too, Competitions for amateur<br />
cameramen have also been prepared in conjunction with Czech Television.<br />
Th e festival’s main star will be Ian Wright – one of the best television<br />
presenters – travellers in the world, star of the British programme Globe<br />
trekker (originally the programme was named Lonely Planet).<br />

What do you have to do?<br />

• come on 8 October to the Day with Czech Television in the Th ermal Hotel<br />

Another part of Carlsbadweek is the Spa festival, where you will get<br />
the chance to familiarise yourself with the off ers of spa companies<br />
during a presentation in the Varyáda shopping centre on 10 October 2009.<br />
Th e event is sure to attract many visitors because you can even win a stay<br />
in a spa. All you need to do is fi ll in the draw ticket which you can fi nd in<br />
this edition of Radniční listy, drop it into the box in the Varyáda shopping<br />
centre and wait to see if you’ve won when the winning tickets are drawn<br />
by the spa companies.<br />
For gastronomy lovers, the grape harvesting festival at Loket castle on 10 – 11<br />
October will include a gastronomy town with the specialities of our Bavarian<br />
neighbours to complement the traditional grape harvesting festival.<br />
If you’re interested in cultural monuments and their fates, you will surely<br />
be interested in the conference on the subject of ‘the importance of the<br />
cultural and natural heritage of spa towns in maintaining and providing<br />
the sustainable growth of balneotherapy and the tourist industry’. Th is will<br />
bring advantage to spa towns aft er entry onto the<br />
UNESCO World Heritage List. Th is conference<br />
will take place on 9 October in Karlovy Vary. You<br />
must register in advance for this conference – more<br />
