In April the yotcru.com team made its way down to the Antibes Yacht Show to meet up with the crew and see
all the fantastic work everyone is doing on the yachts in the build-up to the Med charter season. We have some

YACHT MASTER OFFSHORE PRACTICAL SAIL
OR MOTOR COURSE (5 DAYS)
This 5-day course is for the highly experienced, and the
aim is to prepare you for the RYA/DOT Yachtmaster
Offshore Certificate examination. The qualification is highly
regarded worldwide. You will cover passage planning and
implementation, navigation and pilotage in restricted
visibility, emergency situations, meteorology, the skipper’s
role and perfecting boat-handling skills. A thorough
knowledge of the shore-based syllabus, including IRPCS,
lights and shapes, sound signals and meteorology is
essential. The instructor will assess your needs in relation
to the syllabus and structure the course accordingly.

beacon frequencies.
As of February 2009 only the 406MHz frequency will be
used and not the 121.5 or 243 MHz frequencies.

POST OF THE MONTH The importance of
verifiable references
There being no central register of yachts and the companies that
manage them then how can a Manager, Crew Agency or even the
MCA verify details when someone does not have to go far to
'invent' new yachts, managers and the like?
Sadly the high demand for crew pushes up the salary levels and it
becomes worthwhile for less honest crew to begin 'inflating' their
CV's! It is almost impossible to check references unless the
referee is personally known to you!
