CAMP COACHES
JOLENE SHEPARDSON
Jolene Shepardson enters her third season
as the CSU Bakersfield volleyball
program continues to improve. In her
first year as head coach, she made the
Roadrunners the sixth most improved
team in all of NCAA Division I volleyball
in 2011.After CSUB went 0-31 in a
winless 2010 season, Shepardson took
over the reins to the program and guided
the ‘Runners to an 8-18 2011 season.
Her second season in 2012 featured
a revamped lineup and continued improvement
to a 14-17 record. A native of Tampa, FL, Jolene graduated
from University of South Florida where she led the Bulls into the
2nd round of the NCAA tournament in 2002.
AARON SHEPARDSON
Aaron Shepardson became the first
ever Head Sand Volleyball Coach in
CSUB history as the ‘Runner enjoyed
their first season of Sand Volleyball in
2013. As Associate Head Coach for
the indoor team at CSUB, his primary
responsibilities include training the
setters and middle blockers. A native
of Littleton, Colo., Shepardson graduated
from Baylor in 1998 with a degree
in psychology. He played on Baylor’s
men’s volleyball club as an outside hitter
and setter from 1993-98 and was a member for the USA Men’s
National Volleyball team in 2000-2001. In 2003, Shepardson played
professionally in Indonesia and Belgium.
TORI GRAFEMAN
Tori Grafeman joined the CSUB coaching
staff during the Fall of 2012 as an
assistant with both the indoor and sand
volleyball teams. Grafeman spent the
previous two years playing professional
volleyball overseas. During the 2011-12
season, Grafeman played in Barcelona,
Spain where she competed in the Superliga
under the volei division of the
Barça Futbol Club. In 2011, Grafeman
played on the FCVB (Federacio Catalana
de Voleibol) Tour based in Barcelona,
Spain. Representing Barcelona Beach Volleyball Club, Grafeman,
with partner Susana Vega, was ranked in the top 10 in their
first summer together. Grafeman spent her collegiate playing days
at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, where she graduated with a
BA in Business Administration.

CAMP DESCRIPTIONS
ALL SKILLS CAMP
New and experienced middle school, high school, and club
players come and prepare for your upcoming school tryouts
and fall volleyball season with this All Skills prep camp. Our
coaches and college players will help you improve your skills
of passing, setting, attacking, blocking, defense and serving.
Experienced players and beginners alike will be ready to make
a big impression at school this fall.
Dates: Mon July 8 - Wed, July 10
Times: Mon-Wed 9am-4:30pm (Check-In 8am Mon)
Age: Grades 5-12 (groups for players of all abilities)
Cost: $160 early register by June 1

LIBERO CAMP
Pass, dig and serve with this high intensity camp designed to
help back row players become specialists in the art of controlling
the volleyball. Campers will learn the details of platform
control, floor moves, reading the attacker, and mental routine.
This camp is also great for attackers and setters who want to
improve their ball control.
Dates: Mon, July 15 – Tues, July 16

SETTER CAMP
Become the reliable leader your team needs by learning to set
the consistent ball that your hitters love. Campers will learn
how to control their delivery, tempo, and location of all their
sets. Setters will become better decision makers and learn
deception techniques as well.

ATTACKER CAMP
Improve your hitting skills with this two day technical camp designed
to help players attack higher and harder. Campers will
train to maximize efficiency of their approach, arm swing and
wrist/hand control, and learn shot selection against a block.

SAND CAMP (Kern River Parkway Truxtun/Mohawk)
Come have Fun in the Sun with the latest NCAA sport of
Sand Volleyball. Learn the unique skills and strategies of the
2 vs 2 game. This camp will be a blast for passionate beach
players and indoor players who want to increase their vertical
jump, court vision and communication.
Dates: Fri, July 12 – Sat, July 13
Times: Fri - Sat 8am-11am; 5pm-8pm (Check-In 7:30am Fri)

LITTLE SPIKERS CAMP
Volleyball FUN and Development for KIDS. Our little campers
will have a blast learning teamwork, getting exercise and
practicing the fundamentals of volleyball. Activities will build
motor skills, hand-eye coordination and confidence. We’ll use
special light-weight volleyballs that are designed for youth.
Dates: Session I - Mon July 8 - Tues, July 9
Session II - Wed July 10 - Thurs, July 11
Session III - Mon July 15 - Tues, July 16
Session IV - Wed July 17 - Thurs, July 18
Times: 9am-12pm each day (Check-In 8am Mon or Wed)

SERVING AND JUMP SERVING CAMP
This camp will introduce various serving and jump service
techniques including the jump float, jump topspin, and running
jump serves. Participants will learn the mechanics of the
armswing, hand contact, and power production. Players will
learn service zones, short and deep serving and deception
techniques.

BOYS CAMP
Finally a camp exclusively designed for the guys! This camp
will feature instruction for players of all levels and all positions.
Players will learn to attack around the block, pass and
set with precision, and play defense with determination! And
of course there will be plenty of competition!
