Mr Adrian James Palmer
discussed the interview and what would happen. She says that
Adrian suggested his friend ****** would accompany him and he
would be comfortable talking about the allegation in front of her.
Adrian told ***** that he had a Social Worker, *****, but had not seen
her for some time. Following speaking to Adrian, ***** spoke to *****
has recorded on a vulnerable witness investigation log that ***** is
happy for ***** to accompany Adrian to the interview. It is also
recorded that Adrian has spoken to his grandmother in more detail
now and it seems that this has happened on a number of occasions
and that this may be the reason for Adrian’s aggression and drinking
problems.
154. On 11 January 2006, ***** left a message for ***** to contact ***** on
her return. On the same day ***** also spoke to *****, Adrian’s
Psychologist, about the best way to communicate with Adrian and
Adrian’s level of understanding. ***** has recorded that due to
Asperger’s Syndrome, Adrian may misunderstand euphemisms and
metaphors and will need to be addressed using simple language.
***** was also told that Adrian was reasonably articulate and
understands the concept of truth and lies but may lack judgement of
situations.
155. On 12 January 2006, ***** conducted a vulnerable witness interview
with Adrian, which was recorded on videotape. Following the
interview, she contacted both ***** and Officer B to update them
about the interview.
156. On 23 January 2006, ***** had received two telephone messages
from Adrian’s ***** asking for advice regarding Adrian’s safety. *****
advised ***** that she would contact Officer A about this issue. *****
spoke to Officer A on the same day, who said she would contact
Adrian and his grandparents offering advice. ***** also contacted
****** at Social Services and advised her of this as well.
