A NOTE FROM THE GRAND GUARDIAN A year ago I was writing a ―get to know me‖ article for the newspaper, now I am writing what is my last article as Grand Guardian. When I say that this year has flown by I don’t mean like the floating pace of a balloon ride, it is more like a rocket flight. And like a rocket flight would be, the year has been AMAZING, and the year has been AMAZING, all because of YOU, the Daughters of Job’s Daughters. I appreciate every smile, every hug, every courtesy you have given me. You shared who you are in skit and song, in librarian reports, meetings and our meeting before the meeting, creating special memories for me. You are talented, bright, creative, sensitive and caring young women and I am so pleased to know you, honored to be your Grand Guardian. I hope you had a GREAT time at Grand Bethel, I sure did! Congratulations to all the Grand Bethel Officers and to the Bethels representing the jurisdictions of Job’s Daughters. It is fantastic to report that participation was up in nearly every activity; ritual and music competition, librarian reports, essay, arts & crafts, and from what I observed in every dance and activity on the floor during the session. I especially want to tell you how much I enjoyed the choir performance of Heal the World/We are the World; all hands were up in the air, moving with the music. I was moved by your participation. You are the world, you are our future and you do make a difference. I believe in the power of these three words, LISTEN, ENCOURAGE, EMPOWER, and the impact they can have on our lives. By careful listening we demonstrate respect for and create the opportunity to learn from one other. To encourage is to assist and to inspire confidence in another. To empower is to enable and give power and authority to another. This is what Job’s Daughters is about. I thank the Job’s Daughters and the Council, Committee and other adult workers for focusing on these three words, and the impact these words and actions have on our Bethels and our lives. Mr. Matlack and I have enjoyed every minute, of every hour we have spent with you this year. Thank you for listening, encouraging and empowering us to serve you the Daughters, Adults, Bethels and Councils of California. You have made our year a memory never to be forgotten. With much Job’s Daughters love, Cathy SieberLowe Grand Guardian Page 4 A NOTE FROM THE ASSOCIATE GRAND GUARDIAN Job’s Daughters of California, I hope you are having as much fun in Job’s Daughters as I am. Every weekend is filled with fun and friends as we have been traveling all over the state meeting and visiting with all of you. The Official Visits you planned have been great. And we are looking forward to the remaining visits in September and October. The Picnics have also been great fun. Luckily most of the water balloons have ended-up hitting Mr. Boswell and not me! The Grand Bethel Officer and Grand Officer Receptions have been wonderful and special in their own ways. Grand Bethel was a blast and I know you had fun too. I don’t know what my favorite part was. (What was yours?) The opening was impressive, and that was a lion, not a dragon. The Miss California Pageant was outstanding and I am very proud of each and every contestant. I will admit I was very nervous before making my presentation on the Grand Guardian’s Project, and very happy afterwards, thanks to your positive response and support. The Drill Teams, variety show acts, and the Grand Bethel Officer selection were exciting and fun. All the competitions were great, because the more you put into it the more you get out of it; and we can all tell you put a lot into it. The installation was beautiful and inspiring. We are so lucky to have incredible Grand Bethel Officers in both 2011- 2012 and 2012-2013. By the way, the dance was just crazy. And so many pictures! I can’t wait to get the Photo DVD. (Make sure you share your favorites with your friends.) Even with all that fun and excitement my favorite part was just the smile on every Daughter’s face. That simple smile told me that you were having fun and wanted to be there, at Grand Bethel, and in Job’s Daughters. Those wonderful smiles made my day, thanks to you. Keep sharing them. This year’s project, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, has been getting great response. I am especially looking forward to the CHOC-Walk and Job’s Daughters Day at Disneyland. But even more important are the individual Bethel projects that you have been participating in and planning. And I want to hear about all of them. Ask your Bethel Guardian about the reward program and how you can earn a Grand Guardian’s Project T-shirt or a Bethel Banner. Thank you for a SUPER year as your Associate Grand Guardian. NOTE FROM VICE ASSOCIATE GRAND GUARDIAN: What an exciting time I’ve had so far this year. Every day I considered myself lucky to be involved with you wonderful young ladies and this premier organization we call California Job’s Daughters. Meeting and talking to so many of you and your Guardians has been fantastic and continues to energize and motivate me. The involvement from the adults of our Order has been fantastic. They are amazing and freely give so much of their time to help you. They make it possible for you to excel, and demonstrate all your talents and abilities and I thank them for doing that. I had the privilege to attend Leadership Camp in both the north and the south. From the behind the scene work of the Leadership Camp Committee, to the hands on work of the Camp Counselors and CITs, camp provided a fun, bonding, and educational experience for all in attendance. The Counselors are such amazing young ladies. They work hard producing and executing their modules to ensure that the campers gain valuable information in a fun and enjoyable environment. The CITs work with the campers and ensure they get where they need to be and to ensure their safety. These ladies work very hard before camp, at camp and after camp planning and preparing for what’s next. We were fortunate this year to have the Grand Master of Masons in California and his wife join the girls at camp for some great games and pictures. It was such a treat to have them at camp and all in attendance enjoyed their visit. This year I had the pleasure of being a member of the Grand Bethel Board. A talented and dedicated group of adults charged with planning and running Grand Bethel and ensuring that the Grand Bethel Girls execute the duties of their office. I discovered that this group of adults has an amazing vision and outstanding values and are totally guided by doing what they believed would be the most beneficial and fun for the girls. Grand Bethel! All I can say is what an amazing weekend. I arrived Wednesday full of excitement and in anticipation of a great adventure full of wonderment, new beginnings, crazy days, wonderful events, fantastic competitions, talented young ladies, great adults and of course sleepless nights. I was excited to see who would be crowned the next Miss California Job’s Daughter, and what Grand Bethel Office each of the future Grand Bethel Girls would get. I couldn’t wait to watch as the best Job’s Daughters in all the land got together for competitions and a weekend of sisterhood. I can’t wait to see what is in store for next year. Thank you for inviting me to your Association picnic, they have been great. At them, I’ve been able to judge baking and table decorating contests, and participate in some great games. I can’t believe how much water a water balloon holds. Some of you have great aims when throwing those balloons and trust me, I will be working on moving faster. I am very proud of all of you and all the time and effort each of you give on behalf of this wonderful Order.
