532 refers to the school’s physical address - and the sense
of place felt by all who come here. The 532 staff welcomes
you to our school magazine, published twice yearly for
alumni, parents, students, friends and the entire Sandia
Prep community. We hope you enjoy the magazine.
Our Mission: The joy of learning and living is at the
center of all we do. Sandia Preparatory School provides
remarkable opportunities for intellectual and personal

As an extension of our families, Sandia Prep’s diverse

Our Vision: At Sandia Prep, we will inspire our students

Sandia Prep Alumna Maya Higgins ’06
Maya Higgins ’06 has taken her passions for
adventure, travel, science and the outdoors and turned
them into a unique and diverse career: teaching
environmental science to children on the trail during
the school year, and leading National Geographic
Student Expeditions to international destinations each
summer. A Scripps College honors graduate, she
is a former Thomas J. Watson fellow and Fulbright
scholar who has learned three languages while
conducting research on the effects of ecotourism on
island biodiversity and cultures, in such places as the
Galapagos Islands, New Zealand, Micronesia, Palau,
and Madagascar. Read more about her adventures,
and how her experiences at Sandia Prep inspired the
career that she loves today.
