Groupe ESC Rouen becomes Rouen Business School
French business school changes its name, logo and positioning
June 2009 ― Groupe ESC Rouen has become Rouen Business School, effective as of June
5, 2009. The new name reflects the French school’s ambition to grow internationally. In
addition to the name change, the school has created a new visual identity and positioning,
part of its strategic plan for 2012 in which the school aims to become one of the best
European management schools.
New logo, new horizons
Its new name and logo are the expression of the school's vision: "Exploring new worlds,
going forward as responsible business leaders." The new blue, green and yellow logo ― in
the shape of a sail ― reflects the school’s vision to embark upon new horizons and
territories: emerging countries, sustainable growth and digital economies while relying on its
traditional values of openness and curiosity, excellence in research and a sense of
responsibility. The sail also references Rouen’s location as a city on the route from Paris
towards the sea and underlines that Rouen is a home base port.
“While it expresses the school's ambition to increase its international impact, the new identity
affirms our commitment to our historic link with Rouen and our confidence in the dynamism
of our region, in which our role is to be both player and ambassador,” said Arnaud Langlois-
Meurinne, Dean of Rouen Business School.
“The values we have maintained for more than a century are those on which is founded the
reputation of Rouen, the port of embarkation for new worlds: the explorer's desire to
discover, the entrepreneur's daring, the concern for sustainable development, the sense of
leadership and responsibility.”
New names have also been given to the entirety of the school’s multiple programme
offerings which include the following programmes taught entirely in English: The International
MBA with 70 percent foreign students, and four Masters of Sciences programmes including
Global Management, Finance, Marketing French Excellence and Business Information
Systems. The school is also currently developing a new Masters in Science in Supply Chain
and International Retail Management. Its Grande Ecole programme was recently ranked 20 th
in the Financial Times Masters of Management rankings.
Ambition 2012
Rouen Business School is on its way to achieving the goals outlined in its strategic plan for
2012 which calls for budget, enrolment and faculty increases and new programme offerings.
Student enrolment has increased from 2500 to 3000 students; 11 new researchers/faculty
have been hired, the school has created a Paris Executive Campus in partnership with
Reims Management School, and has begun two new Masters programmes, and a PhD
programme with Ecricome, a consortium of six French business schools, and has reworked
the Bachelor and Masters in Management programmes.

Equis-accredited, Rouen Business School, was also recently accredited by AMBA and is
finalizing its plan for AACSB accreditation. It has increased its corporate club from 39 to 58
members and will be creating a Foundation in 2010.
