as facilities coordinator in 1990. Supervisor
Allan Crasto said Denny is so
familiar with UDRI buildings and equipment
that he has always been a valuable
resource for planning, efficient use of
space and more. “He will be difficult to
replace,” Allan said.

to create a solid team and an office that
functioned well. “John has always cared
very strongly about the integrity of the
Institute,” he said.
Moving up
Congratulations
to John
“J.R.” Ruschau,
who has been
promoted to
division head
for Structural
Integrity. John
succeeds Mike
Bouchard, who resumed his former role
as division head for Aerospace Mechanics.
J.R., who joined UDRI in the mid-
70s, said he was “baptized” in several of
the newly developed structural integrity
activities managed at AFRL in the then
Materials and Flight Dynamics laboratories.
“While my work has grown more
towards materials characterization, I’ve
never lost my interest or enthusiasm
in the areas of fracture mechanics and
structural integrity.” J.R. said goals include
“leveraging (his) experiences and
reputation at AFRL to retain current
customers, as well as to seek out new
opportunities in other directorates.”
Congratulations also to Kathy
Weisenbach, who has been promoted to
controller in accounting. Kathy succeeds
John Weckesser, who will retire Jan. 3
(see “Moving
on,” left). Kathy
administered
payroll for UDRI
while a student at
UD; she received
her degree in accounting
in 1983.
After graduating
from UD, Kathy
always hoped to one day return to work
in the accounting office and eventually
serve as controller. “I wanted to return
because of the people, the Catholic environment,
and because I loved working
and attending school
here,” Kathy said.
