be reviewed every 5 years.
It was stated that the Land
We have noted the chimney
at the community hall has once
again slid down with the snow
from the roof.
There just must be a better
way to anchor it down.
Anyone have any bright
ideas? Several methods have
been used but to no avail.
The snow on the lower areas
at the bottom of the Armstrong
Hill is disappearing rapidly
while we folks in the higher
range are still shivering and
sloshing through the snow.
Women inquire cont'd.
Mrs. Hartl said Mayor
Tingley alleged that a box of
detergent could have been
responsible for the suds.
"We also asked him if the
works forman and himself
really knew how to operate the
sewage plants."
"They said yes. As well as, or
better than the employees,"
she said.
Mrs. Hartl said the mayor's
reply to what town residents
could do with garbage building
up was to suggest taking refuse
to the municipal dump."
"He told pne woman that if
she didn't feel right about going
through picket line she should
dump the garbage outside the
gates," she said.
The question of road conditions
at Johnson flats was also
levied at the mayor.
"We pointed out that the
road was a short-cut for the
ambulance going to Red Bluff.
"Mayor Tingley told us if we
wanted the road fixed we
should ask our husbands to go
out and fix it," Mrs. Hartl said.
Meanwhile, in a press release
to The Observer, Mayor Tingley
said municipal officials were
asked at the meeting to discuss
in an open forum the present
strike with CUPE negotiator
Ron Magill.
"We declined this request
because the strike is an issue of
vital importance to our town,
and to the taxpayers, and of
course to the employees."
"We do not believe this
problem will be solved by
displays of double talk by
imported professional performers
who have absolutely no
concern for the welfare of our
town," Mayor Tingley said.
He said the union has
withheld consent for the town
to go ahead with a work
program for students seeking
employment during the summer
months.
"The provincial government
requires the consent of the local
union before final approval to
this program can be given,
Mayor Tingley said.
He said many of the women
were surprised to learn that the
municipal wage offer was for
1975 and that the town has also
offered a guaranteed increase
for 1976.
"We also advised the ladies
that town administrator Tony
Green has talked to the union
negotiators within the last few
days and suggested that talks
resume.
"This suggestion has been
rejected," mayor Tingley said.
COMMUNITY NEWS
The big news of the past
week in this area was the
Hawaiian Cabaret sponsored by
the Rimrock Television Association
where it was announced
that we have raised well over
$10,000 towards the television
repeaters.
Tickets to the affair were at a
premium and those lucky
enough to get them were
greeted at the door with the
traditional Aloha and brightly
coloured Leis. -
Soft Hawaiian music played
while a delicious baron of beef
dinner was enjoyed.
Quite early in the evening
the ticket for two to Hawaii was
drawn and the lucky winner
was Mr. Al Beaton of McLeese
Lake, who works at Gibraltar
Mines.
Since the week-end cabaret
there have been quite a few
more residents put in their
$50.00.
Now that people can see that
we have raised two-thirds of
the money needed, perhaps
we'll get one hundred percent
participation.
The next money raising
project for Rimrock T.V. will
be a fun night in April in the
Soda Creek Hall put on by the
people living in the southern
half of our community.
Mrs. Inez Jacques travelled
set its deadline for April 11.
"If the strike isn't settled by
Jess Ketchum, president of
the Quesnel Chamber of Commerce,
commented on the
possibility of having the indoor
"The rodeo has gone on for a
number of years now."
"It is booked on a circuit
schedule and you have to be
very careful to make it.
successful to keep it going," he
said.
"It is unfortunate to see the
"It would almost seem a good
