<strong>Vacation</strong>s<br />

<strong>Vacation</strong>s for educational support personnel working a 12 month year shall be based upon length of<br />

service from their anniversary date of employment in the District. All vacations shall be taken within<br />

three months of the calendar school year <strong>and</strong> the time thereof shall be subject to approval by the<br />

immediate supervisor.<br />

6 months to less than 1 full year 1 week (5 working days) with satisfactory service<br />

1 to 5 years 2 weeks (10 working days)<br />

6 to 10 years 2 weeks + 1 day for each year of service for up to 10<br />

years (no more than 5 working days)<br />

11 to 15 years 3 weeks (15 working days)<br />

16 to 20 years 3 weeks + 1 day for each year of service for up to 20<br />

years (no more than 19 working days)<br />

20 years 4 weeks (20 working days)<br />

If more than one employee desires the same vacation date(s), seniority shall prevail.<br />

<strong>Holidays</strong><br />

All full-time <strong>and</strong> part-time employees shall be granted holidays as indicated on the annual school<br />

calendar.<br />

The Board of Education may grant special holidays whenever such action is advisable. No deduction<br />

shall be made from the employee’s regular compensation. In the event that an employee agrees to<br />

work on a school holiday, he/she shall be given equivalent time off on a date to be mutually agreed<br />

upon by the employee <strong>and</strong> the Superintendent.<br />

Personal Leave<br />

Full-time educational support personnel shall be eligible for three (3) personal days per year with the<br />

approval of their immediate supervisor. Personal days for part-time employees shall be pro-rated.<br />

The request for a personal day shall be made in advance of the day requested. No unused personal<br />

days shall be carried to the following year. Employees may exchange unused personal days for either<br />

uncompensated sick days or be reimbursed at one-half the senior substitute per diem rate if not<br />

greater than the employee’s daily rate.<br />

The Board of Education, during the month of May of each fiscal year, will provide employees of the<br />

District with the option of exchanging unused personal days for sick days. Employees will be<br />

required to respond by May 30 th if they desire to be compensated for unused personal days. If<br />

employees fail to respond by May 30 th of each year, unused personal days shall be converted to<br />

uncompensated sick leave.<br />

Leave to Serve as a Trustee of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund<br />

Upon request, the Board will grant 20 days of paid leave of absence per year to a trustee of the Illinois<br />

Municipal Retirement Fund in accordance with 105 ILCS 5/24-6.3.<br />

Other <strong>Leaves</strong><br />

Educational support personnel receive the following leaves on the same terms <strong>and</strong> conditions granted<br />

professional personnel in Board policy 5:250, <strong>Leaves</strong> of Absence:<br />

1. <strong>Leaves</strong> for Service in the Military <strong>and</strong> General Assembly<br />

2. <strong>School</strong> Visitation Leave<br />

3. <strong>Leaves</strong> for Victims of Domestic or Sexual Violence<br />
