Club Marking 25th Year as APS Chapter
One of our most prominent events this year is Fulton Stamp Club’s 25th year as a
chapter of the American Philatelic Society. We hope to mark the anniversary with
something special that members can remember.
The club participated in a July 22 pictorial cancel for the Volney Bicentennial as was
noted in a previous issue of the Stamp Insider. John A. Cali was invited to the bash and
was very pleased at the reception. Everyone
present was happy with the results, especially
the U.S. Postal Service.
Hannibal Bicentennial
Hannibal’s bicentennial events will continue
this fall. Celebrations were held in August
and are continuing between September
and October.
Pictorial cancels have been suggested
and are expected to be approved. The proposed
pictorial is shown here. Three dates
have been submitted to the USPS for possible
use at the various events.
Still No Meeting Place
We continue our struggle in finding a meeting
place. It appears that meetings will be
conducted in members’ homes until the
matter is resolved.
Another Viewpoint
Daniel A. Piazza, a former Staten Island resident,
believes the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge connecting
Staten Island and Brooklyn is notable for
another reason — its high tolls. Therefore, he
created an alternate Wonders of America design.
Residents of both boroughs complain the bridge
has had a negative impact on their communities,
a battle that has raged since it opened in 1964.
