2010 New Jersey All-State
Mixed Chorus
Jessie Chan, Devin McGuire, Alex Wilke
and Lisa Wooldridge joined 325 of the
top high school singers in the state and
performed at the NJEA Convention in
Atlantic City on Friday, November 5 and
again at NJPAC on Sunday, November 14.
Congratulations to each of them.
2010 New Jersey All-State
Women’s Chorus
Briley Conder and Amrutha Krishnaraj
will perform with the New Jersey All-State
Women’s Chorus at NJPAC in February
2011. Barbara Retzko was chosen to
conduct this All-State Ensemble.
Region II Chorus
Auditions will be held at JP Stevens High
School in Edison on Saturday, December
11. Good luck to the 28 members of the
Choral Department who are auditioning!

Upcoming Ridge Concerts
Winter Band and
Orchestra Concert
The Winter Band and Orchestra Concert
will be held on Thursday, December 16 at
7 pm in the Ridge High School Performing
Arts Center. It will feature performances
by the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble
under the direction of Daniel Zugale and
the Chamber Orchestra and Symphony
Orchestra under the direction of Jennifer
Curran. Come and celebrate the holiday
season with us!
Winter Choral Concert
The Winter Choral Concert will be held
on Tuesday, December 21 at 7 pm in the
Ridge High School Performing Arts
Center. Featured ensembles will include
the Ridge Chorale, the A Cappella Choir
and the Concert Choir. The concert will
conclude with the annual alumni sing
O Holy Night and the Grand Finale of
Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, accompanied
by the Ridge High School Symphony
Orchestra under the direction of Jennifer
Curran. An evening not to be missed!
Ridge Habitat
for Humanity
Ridge High School hosts a large chapter
of the Raritan Valley Youth Habitat for
Humanity, a popular club for students.
Ridge Habitat’s first event this year was
“Staging for Humanity,” held on October
16 and 17 in a new home built by Ridge
parent Bob Horowitz. Proceeds from a
bake sale, gift basket silent auction, and
donations helped Ridge Habitat raise over
$2,000, which was divided between the
club and Morris County Re-Store. Over
60 Ridge club members assisted with the
fundraiser over the two-day period. The
funds will help provide building materials
for a nine-home Raritan Valley Habitat
development in Bridgewater.
Ridge Habitat got “down and dirty” at
the same Bridgewater build site during
their first build day on October 30, putting
up sheet rock and working on other
important construction tasks. Also on
October 30, about 20 club members
were at the Bridgewater Mall to create
Halloween fun for young mall visitors
(face painting was a favorite activity) and
to raise awareness and funds for Youth
Habitat. Earlier in October, Ridge Habitat
participated in a 5K run at Duke Island
Park in Bridgewater. Many people came
out in support, and all proceeds went
to Raritan Valley Youth Habitat and the
Bridgewater project.
The next event for Ridge
Habitat is the “Buy
a Brick” fundraiser,
which runs during
the month of
December. A
“house” is
constructed in
the lobby of Ridge
High School out of
one-dollar “bricks” or note cards, which
students and teachers can purchase. All
money goes to Ridge Habitat. Anyone who
supports the fundraiser has a chance to
win a variety of prizes, including an Ipod.
Anyone can donate, and Ridge Habitat is
hoping to make this their most profitable
fundraiser of the year. Please contact
