Award-winning environmental friendliness. 

We believe in quality that sustainably saves our resources. This philosophy has even earned a prize with the 

Connect 37: the 2008 Focus Green Award in silver for maximum energy efficiency. 

Loewe pursues the strategy of integrating useful functions in the television itself, rather than dividing them 

among other peripherals. As a result, Loewe’s power consumption in standby mode is less than 15 % of 

that of another system with the same range of functions 1 . In addition, using the OPC function – as seen 

for example on the new Art SL – Loewe also makes it possible to save up to 50 % of power consumption 

while the television is in use by automatically adapting brightness and contrast to ambient light. What’s 

more, with the energy-saving ”eco-standard“ mode, you can enjoy excellent picture quality whilst keeping 

energy consumption low at the same time. And with the integrated power switch, the device can even be 

disconnected from the mains power supply completely.

Individual Selection is anything but an 

“off-the-shelf” television. It is a flatscreen 

TV, custom-built to fulfil your 

requirements exactly – and yet losing 

none of its uniqueness in the process. 

The clear formal design and high-quality, 

individually combinable materials, such 

as metal, glass or veneer, underline its 

puristic elegance. 

From the front: unmistakable. 

Even the housing is captivating. The 

anti-reflective glass contrast filter panel 

is set off to great effect by a minimalist 

trim at the top and bottom. The colour 

is for you to choose. There is a choice of 

five different front colours, all of which 

perfectly match the metal speaker grid: 

Aluminium Silver, Aluminium Titanium, 

Aluminium Bronze, Aluminium Black and 

High-Gloss White. But that is only the

From the side: interchangeable.

thanks to pioneering 100Hz technology on 

all models size 32" and over. The double 

picture frequency of 100Hz gives brilliant 

picture quality and greatly improved 

sharpness, e.g. during fast pan shots. 24 p 

motion picture display is also integrated, 

making it possible to play back films on 

Blu-ray disc in their original format of 

24 complete images per second. This means 

you can enjoy judder-free film, just like in 

the cinema.

High-definition TV reception is also already

Universal Speakers, the Multiroom 

Receiver and the Assist Media remote

The Receiver is best operated using the 

Assist Media remote control or directly

room and as a stereo amplifier in its own 

room. To connect it with the Mediacenter, 

Loewe uses existing standards. It is simple

your home network – with a LAN cable 

connection, a Powerline connection 

using the electricity mains or a wireless 

connection using the integrated WLAN

also be completely concealed – behind

sight of the remote control. USB memory 

sticks can also be connected via the 

USB port, so that you can play music files

Its elegant exterior hides 40 small 

directional speakers which use the walls 

of your room as a reflective surface by 

means of sound focusing. The result 

is real 5.1 sound. The Sound Projector 

thus offers a genuine alternative to 

a conventional 5.1 surround system. 

And no elaborate cabling or speaker 

adjustment is required. The measuring 

microphone supplied automatically 

registers the spatial dimensions of your 

living room and optimises the Sound 

Projector accordingly. As a true surround 

system, the Individual Sound Projector 

naturally has the standard Dolby Digital, 

dts and Dolby ProLogic II decoders. 

A surround sound to suit every room. 

The Individual Sound Projector can also 

be perfectly incorporated into your living 

room. Regardless of where you set it up, 

perfect presentation is guaranteed with 

three options: the Table Stand in highquality 

Aluminium is the obvious choice 

for the table or sideboard, and if you 

want it to stand alone in the room, it is 

advisable to use the Floor Stand 5 MU 

SP with motorised rotation. With this 

option you can use the remote control 

to set and store three different listening 

positions for the Sound Projector 

and the TV set. For perfect 5.1 sound 

wherever you‘re sitting. And, thirdly, 

you can of course also attach the Sound 

Projector to the wall underneath your TV 

using a wall mount.

The integrated 5.1 Decoder provides surround sound. So 

you can enjoy the pleasure of impressive 5.1 sound even if 

your television does not have an integrated surround sound 

decoder. In addition to DVDs, CDs, MP3 files and FM radio 

with RDS, you can connect your USB memory stick and iPod 

or iPhone using the integrated ports. 

Elegant and functional: characteristic Loewe design. 

Naturally, Audiovision is also a sight to behold. It has 

an elegant design in perfect harmony with other Loewe 

equipment. The operating display is located in the 

characteristic Loewe eye. The ultra-bright display integrated in 

the front panel shows all the important information including 

title, play duration or radio station. The puristic overall 

impression is enhanced by the absence of visible screws and 

ventilation slots. The elegant design continues behind the 

opened front cover. With this open you can also operate 

Loewe Audiovision directly. 

Optimises DVDs for high resolution. 

The technology also provides a feast for the eyes: because 

DVDs do not make full use of Full-HD resolution, Audiovision 

offers the function Video Upscaling 1080p. The original 

resolution is optimised to 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. Audiovision

With the BluTech Vision Blu-ray player, you are ideally equipped 

for the next generation of home entertainment. As the 

successor to the DVD format, Blu-ray provides optimum picture 

and sound quality. A single disc has storage capacity for up to 

54 gigabytes of high-definition Full-HD content. Blu-ray films 

– just like films in the cinema – are often stored in 24p format 

with 24 images per second. BluTech Vision can use this format 

and nearly all Loewe TV sets can process it – for smoothly 

flowing pictures. Operating the Blu-ray player is child’s play: 

thanks to Loewe system integration, you can operate BluTech 

Vision and your Loewe TV set simultaneously with the Assist 

remote control. Also integrated: Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True 

HD and dts-HD. So you can fully appreciate a breath-taking 

home cinema experience acoustically too.

The Viewvision DR+ DVD recorder is equipped with a DVB-T 

receiver. This allows you to experience the pleasure of digital 

television – even with older Loewe TV sets. And using it for 

recording is also perfectly simple. You simply choose what you 

want to record using the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) on 

your Loewe TV set. Viewvision records the programme on its 

hard disk, and it can then be easily archived with the integrated 

DVD recorder. Viewvision DR+ DVB-T also gives you the option 

of recording a programme even when the TV set is showing 

something completely different. This means that you can simply 

watch two films broadcast at the same time, one after the other.

Technical glossary 

100Hz technology (Fig. 1) 

In 100Hz technology, the projected 

picture is built up at double the speed of 

classic 50 Hz technology. This is achieved 

by firstly saving the received picture in 

the device and then displaying it twice, 

one after the other, by predicting the 

sequence of images and pre-calculating 

them accordingly. The picture is perceived 

as being “steadier”. In the classic 

European 50-Hz standard technology,

a new picture is set up 50 times per 

second, resulting in a picture frequency 

of 50 Hz. The human eye can still perceive 

a picture change at this frequency as 

a flicker, which only disappears at a 

frequency of around 75 Hz. 

3D comb filter 

A 3D comb filter is effective during still 

picture sections and perfectly separates 

the luminance and colour signal. 

10-bit Video Digital /Analogue Converter 

In Loewe DVD recorders, this converter – 

in contrast to conventional circuitry – 

reproduces every detail of the picture 

source authentically. This results in razorsharp, 

precise images even when faced 

with dark film sequences.

24p cinema film display (Fig. 2) 

Films are shot at 24 complete pictures 

per second; European PAL standard 

productions for television and DVD are 

shown on sets with 25 complete pictures 

per second. Until now, this difference 

has led to visible side-effects. Since the 

creation of high-definition media such 

as Blu-ray discs, it is now possible to 

experience the original cinema quality 

at home. In order to do so, the 24p 

play back format must be supported by 

the Blu-ray player and the television. 

Of course, all new Loewe TVs and 

the Loewe Blu-ray player feature 24p 

cinema film display. In order to avoid 

large-scale flickering at this relatively 

low picture repetition rate of 24 Hz, 

each image is shown four times, as it is 

in good cinemas, increasing the picture 

repetition rate to 96 Hz. And because the 

new Loewe TVs can calculate additional 

interpolated images when the optional 

digital movie mode is activated, they also 

avoid the jerkiness typical in cinemas 

during pan shots, for example. In any 

event, the result is an extremely realistic 

picture experience. 

5.1 Multi Channel Audio/ 

Digital Multi-Channel Audio 

Dolby Digital and MPEG 2 audio decoders 

provide 5 separate audio channels with 

full frequency bandwidth and a separate 

channel for the bass range (subwoofer). 

That’s why it’s called 5.1 digital 

multichannel audio. Blu-ray players, DVD 

recorders, audio systems and TV sets 

with HD+ technology can process this 

innovative surround encoding procedure 

for surround sound like in the cinema. 

A 

Ambient light-responsive contrast 

control (OPC) – Optical Power Control 

This feature automatically adjusts 

image contrast to the brightness of the 

room. Depending on the lighting in the 

room (e.g. in darkened rooms) energy 

consumption can thus be reduced by up 

to 50 % (see Energy efficiency). 

Analogue reception 

Besides the standard integrated or 

extendable digital reception options, all 

Loewe TV sets always receive analogue 

TV signals via antenna or cable insofar 

as the corresponding programmes are 

broadcast in analogue reception quality. 

Assist+ 

Loewe televisions feature the newly 

developed intelligent Loewe operating 

system, Assist+. It has a clearly-structured, 

easy-to-use guide and a simple overall 

design. Navigation requires just a few 

buttons on the Assist remote control. 

With the new design, infrequently used 

sub-menus are faded out so the menu 

doesn’t cover the whole TV screen. 

Settings such as volume and personal 

Videotext pages can be saved. With 

the HD+ technology, you can edit up to 

6 favourites lists of 99 channels each – so 

everyone at home can find their favourite 

channel quickly. 

Automatic Channel Programming (ACP) 

Registers all receivable channels the 

first time you switch on the television – 

even those received by the integrated 

satellite tuner – and programs them in 

a country or network-specific sequence. 

Abbreviated channel designations are 

copied directly, if provided by the station. 

Automatic Movie Detection (AMD) 

On programmes transmitted in a 

format with black bars across the top 

and bottom of the screen, the set 

automatically recognises whether a zoom 

display is possible and switches to the 

optimum zoom factor, i.e. the image is 

shown with reduced bars or none at all. 

Automatic switch-off 

With the automatic switch-off function, 

the television set turns itself off after a 

pre-programmed period of time, or when 

the TV is on stand-by without a tuner 

signal for more than 15 minutes. 

Automatic Volume Control (AVC) 

Automatically smoothes out sudden 

increases in volume when changing 

channels or during commercials. The 

volume remains approximately the same. 

This function depends on the signal 

format emitted by station. 

AV port 

This is a port on the front of the TV set 

for S-VHS/-Hi-8-camcorder (Hosiden 

connector), VHS-8mm camcorder 

(video RCA/phono jack) and for sound 

(stereo RCA/phono jack). It facilitates 

copying from a camcorder, for example, 

to a connected DVD recorder.

Bass Reflex 

Speaker chassis in closed cabinets absorb 

sound components emitted to the rear. 

Bass reflex speakers feature a precisely 

calculated opening in the cabinet to 

use this reflected sound. This opening 

produces broad low range bass imaging 

and higher acoustic pressure. 

Black Level Expander 

Grey pictures are corrected towards 

black. Contrast and the depth of focus 

impression are thus increased.

CD Text 

In addition to music, audio CDs can also 

store text such as the CD name and artist. 

Devices equipped with this feature display 

this additional information.

Child Lock 

Blocks selected channels or the whole TV 

set using a PIN code. This feature can be 

set for activation at a certain time of day 

or above a certain age. Child locks are 

also integrated in Loewe Audio Systems 

and Loewe Equipment products. 

Cinema 

Cinema mode enlarges the 4 : 3 picture 

for proportionally correct display on a 

16 : 9 screen. 

Colour Transient Improvement (CTI) 

Improves the colour signals and ensures 

a sharper edge demarcation with a 

special edge control switch. 

Comb filter 

Comb filter is the term used to describe 

a filter circuit that can re-separate 

frequency spectra such as luminance or 

colour signals interlaced according to 

a fixed pattern. On conventional sets 

this separation is performed by simple 

filter circuits. However, parts of the 

other respective components are hereby 

retained in the separated signals. This 

leads to unavoidable interference. Comb 

filters separate both spectra practically 

interference-free. The result is clearly 

defined picture borders and higher 

definition with stiller pictures. 

Common Interface (CI-Slot) 

Common Interface is a standard interface. 

Coded digital channels may be used 

by inserting the appropriate decoding

Conditional Access Module (CA-Modul) 

The CA module contains the decoding 

system and compares the transmitted code 

with that on the SmartCard. If the two

Cryptoworks, Viaccess) are available from 

specialist retailers. 

Copy-to-DR+ function 

A function in the Loewe Viewvision DR+ 

DVB-T DVD recorder, which enables 

content such as digital photos or MP3 

audio files to be copied from the USB 

memory or CD onto the DVD recorder’s 

integrated hard disk. 

CRX ® -Soundsystem (Fig. 3) 

When speakers are flat, the CRX ® Sound 

System (Coaxial Reflex Sound System) 

makes it possible to accommodate the 

necessary bass reflex pipe, providing 

rich bass playback on flat-screen TV sets 

without loss of sound. 

Custom File 

This function allows you to save your 

favourite songs on a particular CD in the 

memory of the device (max. 20 entries). 

The selected songs are then played in the 

order programmed without interruption. 

The programmed selection is saved and 

will be available the next time the same 

CD is inserted.

Diagonal Contour Control (DCC) 

Diagonal lines come across as steps 

on large screens, especially during 

movement. DCC considerably reduces this 

effect. Diagonal lines are thus displayed 

smoothly during camera movement and 

without a “stair-step effect”. 

Digital Link 

Digital Link allows Equipment products to 

be operated, even if they are in concealed 

set-ups. Connection to a Loewe TV set 

with a fully wired Scart cable is required 

for this. 

Digital Link Plus 

The TV set and DVD recorder exchange 

data via Scart cable using Digital Link Plus 

(e.g. analogue programme list or timer 

data). This allows the TV set to control 

recording. 


TV set and external device exchange 

data via the HDMI interface and make 

the system easier to operate. 

Digital Movie Mode (DMM) 

Studio recording, live broadcast or 

feature film – the broadcast image is 

always optimally decoded. Still images 

are played back with maximum sharpness 

and completely motionless. DMM 

creates intermediate images to enable 

perfect studio quality, even with quick 

movements. 

Digital Noise Control (DNC) 

Weak (analogue) TV signals can cause 

annoying picture noise. DNC works to 

digitally suppress this noise. 

Digital Power Amplifier 

In comparison to conventional analogue 

amplifiers, the digital signal is amplified 

here. Only then does the conversion from 

digital to analogue take place. The energy 

is more efficiently used (90 % efficiency) 

and is transformed into power output. 

The use of digital components enables 

the development of smaller and slimmer 

amplifiers. 

DivX 

A format for compressing video data. 

A normal bass reflex tube, as 

used in CRT sets, takes up too 

much room in an LCD set. 

That’s why it is folded in flatscreen 

TV sets – the 9 equal 

sections take up less room.

Dolby Digital 

The digital standard for high-quality 

home cinema systems. With this standard 

individual channels are transmitted 

separately. The three front channels 

on the right, left and centre, the two 

surround channels on the right and left 

and the external subwoofer channel are 

also termed as a 5.1 signal. 

Dolby Digital Plus 

Dolby Digital Plus is a new, improved 

process for encrypting audio signals. It is 

compatible with modern home cinema 

systems and is supported by Loewe Bluray 

players, for example. 

Dolby ProLogic 

Converts Dolby coded stereo signals into

Dolby ProLogic II 

A newer version of Dolby Pro Logic. 

Using highly advanced mathematical 

models this process generates six-channel

from a stereo or Pro Logic signal. 

Dolby TrueHD 

Is a surround sound format with no 

loss of quality for up to 7.1 channels 

developed for high-definition media 

such as Blu-ray. The audio data is 

uncompromised and therefore identical 

to the original recording in the studio. 

A separate decoder is required for 

playback. Dolby TrueHD is read by the 

Loewe Blu-ray player, for example, and 

then released to the digital output. 

Dolby Virtual Speaker technology 

Dolby Virtual Speaker technology simulates 

surround sound playback from a real 5.1 

channel speaker system with just two 

speakers. This uses advanced algorithms 

and technologies for room modeling, in 

order to reproduce the audio spectrum 

and dynamics of real 5.1 channel speakers. 

Dolby Virtual Speaker complements 

modern flat-screens and is ideal for rooms 

in which a 5.1 speaker system cannot be 

used due to cost or installation effort. 

Downscaling/upscaling 

By connecting various equipment 

products via a digital AV interface, 

the TV set receives different signals 

in different resolutions. The electronic 

system in the TV recognises this and 

automatically adjusts the resolution 

to match the display resolution. This 

means, for example, that when a laptop 

is connected, the 640 x 480 pixels 

resolution is automatically upgraded 

to the optimal display resolution of 

1.366 x 768 pixels. 

dts – Digital Theatre Sound 

Along with the well-known Dolby Digital 

5.1 format, many films are now mixed in 

the dts Digital Surround format in order 

to achieve an effective 5.1 surround 

sound effect. Loewe DVD recorders, 

Blu-ray players and audio systems support 

dts surround sound. 

dts HD 

Is a new sound format, in which highdefinition 

audio signals are encrypted 

with up to 7.1 channels. It is compatible 

with current 5.1 home cinema systems 

and is supported by Loewe Blu-ray 

players, for example. dts HD is available 

in two forms: as dts HD High Resolution 

(HR) Audio, where data is compromised, 

saving memory, and dts HD Master 

Audio, which is uncompromised and 

therefore identical to the original mix 

in the sound studio. 

DR+ 

The integrated DR+ hard disk recorder is 

optionally available ex works for almost 

all Loewe TVs. This allows you to record 

television programmes very easily at the 

touch of a button, or interrupt the current 

programme by pressing the pause button 

on your Loewe remote control, and even 

rewind television with the backwards 

button. HDTV programmes can also be 

recorded this way. 

Dual Laser 

Different types of discs such as DVDs or 

CDs place different demands on the laser. 

That’s why Loewe puts two lasers in all 

DVD players and audio systems. One laser 

is designed especially to read DVDs and 

a second is used to read CDs (including 

home recorded CD-Rs or CD-RWs). As 

each laser is specifically designed for 

one task, the best audio and video 

performance is guaranteed. 

DVB 

DVB describes the standards currently 

established in Europe for broadcasting 

digital content (e. g. television, radio, 

multi-channel sound, EPG, Teletext and 

other additional services). The most 

important standards today are DVB-T, 

DVB-C and DVB-S/S 2. 

DVB-T 

DVB-T describes the digital broadcast of 

content via the antenna (Terrestrial). 

DVB-C 

DVB-C describes the digital broadcast of 

content via the cable network. 

DVB-S bzw. DVB-S 2 

DVB-S describes the digital broadcast of 

programmes via satellite. DVB-S 2 is a 

further developed version of this standard 

and increases the transfer rate by up 

to 30 % (through the use of improved 

codification, modulation and error 

correction processes). Today, the majority 

of HDTV content is broadcast in the 

DVB-S 2 standard.

Digital Tick 

The digital tick logo is used to identify 

digital TV products that are designed to 

work through switchover which includes 

the switching off of existing analogue 

television broadcasts in the UK. 

DV Port 

The DV port is required to connect a 

camcorder with a suitable output to a 

DVD recorder. The connection type is 

also known as FireWire. 

DVD Audio 

This high-definition audio format provides 

top-quality sound that is even better than 

a conventional CD. In addition to music, 

DVD audio can also offer visual elements 

such as lyrics, still frames and animations. 

Just as with DVD video, DVD audio can 

contain videos with the Dolby Digital 5.1 

audio format. 

Dynamic contrast ratio 

Panel luminosity is adjusted when the 

picture features a high proportion of 

black. The so-called backlights are 

automatically dimmed and the contrast 

ratio is increased dynamically for this 

picture.

Eco-standard 

The ”eco-standard“ setting can have a 

significant impact on the TV set’s energy 

consumption. Low energy consumption 

is a priority in this mode (see Energy 

efficiency). 

Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) 

The EPG is updated daily to guide you 

through digital television programming 

directly on-screen. EPG provides 

an advance view of several days’ 

programmes for individual stations.

Energy efficiency 

The ”Energy Efficiency“ menu item 

allows the user to select how efficiently 

their Loewe TV set will be operated. 

Depending on the pre-setting, the 

contrast value (and therefore the 

brightness of the back lighting) is 

adjusted and the automatic contrast 

control is activated or deactivated. In 

the ”eco standard“ mode, the focus is 

on low energy consumption for home 

use (ambient light contrast control is 

activated). ”Premium mode“ optimises 

the settings for a brighter environment, 

with a higher level of energy consumption 

(ambient light contrast control is 

activated). In ”retailer mode“, the picture 

settings are adjusted for using the device 

in showrooms (ambient light contrast 

control is deactivated). 

Ext. 16 : 9 Mode 

This enables the play-back of 16 : 9 

pictures from external sources, that were, 

for example, recorded using a 16 : 9 

camcorder. Only the width of the picture 

needs to be expanded to display the 

correct picture proportions on 16 : 9 

TV sets.

With the help of 6 favourites lists, 

favourite channels can be easily saved 

and accessed quickly at any time. Each 

favourites list can be filled with up to 

99 channels. Favourites lists can be 

put together according to individual 

requirements (for example, according 

to categories such as Film, Sport, Family 

or according to user). The favourites 

lists also have the advantage of storing 

channels from various signal sources in 

the desired order. 


Full-HD-100 Hz LCD displays are suitable 

for processing the 100 Hz picture 

repetition rate. These LCD displays have 

a resolution of 1.920 x 1.080 pixels in 

16 : 9 format.

HDCP (High Bandwidth Digital 

Content Protection) 

HDCP is the digital copy protection 

accepted by film studios. Films protected 

this way can only be shown via the digital 

inputs if the DVI or HDMI interface of 

both the feeding device and the display 

feature HDCP. 

HDMI (High Definition Multimedia 

Interface) 

HDMI is the new standard for 

connection and interfaces in consumer 

electronics. Picture and audio signals are 

transmitted in a purely digital form with 

unprecedented brilliance and quality. For 

videos, HDMI is PIN compatible with DVI. 

HD ready 

HD ready is used to describe sets that 

are able to display HDTV signals on 

screen. HD ready sets have a native 

resolution of at least 720 lines on a 16 : 9 

screen format. Furthermore, at least one 

component port is available, such as a 

HDMI or DVI port with HDCP. 

HDTV 

HDTV stands for “high-definition 

television”. Whereas TV pictures 

conforming to the current PAL standard 

consist of 625 lines, HDTV has 1.080 scan 

lines (European standard in full-screen 

mode). The advantages of this are a 

considerable improvement in sharpness 

and impressive depth. The HDTV logo 

marks sets which are capable of receiving 

and processing high-definition signals. 

HDTV 1080p 

This describes Full-HD flat-screen TVs that 

are suitable for receiving, processing and 

displaying high-definition programmes 

with 1080p (incl. 24p cinema film 

display support). Loewe sets with HD+ 

technology and Full-HD display meet the 

requirements for this logo. 

Help function 

On the Assist+ menu on Loewe TV sets, 

pressing the Info key calls up information 

about each menu option. This makes it 

easier to learn how to operate Assist+. 

Home Cinema 

With an external loudspeaker system you 

can turn your television into your own 

home cinema. For a surround sound 

experience, a decoded Dolby Digital 

sound signal is normally divided between 

five speakers and a subwoofer. It’s also 

possible to create the impression of 

surround sound with fewer speakers, e. g. 

with Virtual Dolby Speaker technology. 

Home networking with RS 232 

Many Loewe sets feature an integrated 

RS 232 interface, also available as an 

upgrade kit, which allows Loewe to be 

easily incorporated into existing and new 

home network systems such as those 

from AMX or Crestron. The operator 

panel of the network system acts as the 

control centre, meaning that the TV set 

can be controlled from any position in 

the house. The Loewe customer can, for 

example, switch their TV and radio on 

and off, change channel and mute. A 

DR+ recording can also be activated from 

the Touch Panel – even if the TV set isn’t 

actually on at that moment. 

Hybrid tuner 

Receiver for both analogue and digital 

programmes. In addition to analog cable 

and antenna signals, Loewe’s current 

hybrid tuner can receive DVB-T and 

DVB-C programmes. That means that 

digital television requires no additional 

tuner. The hybrid tuner is an integral 

part of the TV set. 

I 

Image+ 

Image+ is responsible for the unique 

image quality on a Loewe display. With 

Loewe Image+, pictures are so vivid, 

you’d think they were real. Loewe Image+ 

is the technological response to the 

digital HDTV future. Depending on the 

set model, various systems developed 

by Loewe work together with the 

display to create consistently brilliant 

and realistic images. 

Image+ Active 

Image+ Active encompasses a package 

of individual image enhancement 

technologies. Special technologies such 

as Image+ Contrast, Image Colour+ or 

Image+ Sharpness display individual 

pictures with even greater sharpness, 

contrast and colour fidelity. A contrast 

sensor in Image+ Contrast HD measures 

room brightness and adapts the television 

contrast accordingly. The Image+ 

Sharpness HD 3D comb filter ensures that 

fine structures and features are displayed 

in even greater detail. Image+ Colour HD 

eliminates what are known as cross 

colour effects that may occur with fine 

patterns, while Image+ Motion ensures 

exceptionally steady picture quality 

during camera movement. Image+ Active 

perfects picture optimisation, even for HD 

signals. As a result of the combination

Individual Sound Projector (Fig. 5) 

The Individual Sound Projector provides 

authentic 5.1 surround sound from just 

one source. Its 40 individual speakers 

use the walls of the room to direct the 

sound reflections precisely. The room’s 

acoustics are measured automatically, 

and the sound waves are adjusted exactly 

according to the angles of incidence and 

reflection, depending to site, lay-out 

and set-up of the room. A measuring 

microphone is supplied. Manual set-up 

is also possible for fine tuning. With 

the Individual Sound Projector you can 

experience perfect surround sound 

from all directions without making any 

concessions to your living space. 


Subwoofer Highline (Fig. 6) 

The new Individual Sound Subwoofer 

Highline is the ideal appliance for real 

Hi-Fi enthusiasts. With a total power of 

800 watts, one active and two passive 

bass speakers, it offers the ultimate in 

powerful bass. 

Internet radio 

Internet radio or web radio refers 

to an Internet-based range of radio 

programmes. Loewe products with this 

function can receive broadcasts from 

more than 8.000 radio stations from all 

over the world live and direct (without 

using a PC). It is possible to search for 

stations according to country and genre 

and broadcasters from the user‘s own 

country are displayed automatically, so 

it is easy to find the required station. 

Personal preferences can be saved in a 

favourites list. Managing your favourites 

and listening to music is also possible 

via the Loewe website. The option of 

switching off the screen while listening 

to the radio can help to reduce power 

consumption. 

iPIP 

Advertising breaks can be shrunk into 

a little picture window using iPIP, while 

other channels are followed on a large 

window. Pressing the iPIP button again 

restores the first channel to full-screen 

mode. 

IR Link 

The IR link function available as an 

upgrade allows discreetly positioned 

additional devices from other 

manufacturers to be operated using the 

Loewe TV set.

LCD Technology 

LCD screens consist of two backlit glass 

panels. Sandwiched between these two 

panels is a liquid (liquid crystal) stored 

in individual chambers whose molecules 

change their orientation when electrical 

voltage is applied. That is how the picture 

is created. The result is very compact 

construction, energy efficient displays and 

perfect picture quality. 

L-Link 

This feature is the intelligent system 

connection between Loewe TV sets and 

audio systems for exchanging information 

automatically. It makes operating the 

television and Loewe system components 

easier than ever. 

Luminance Transition Improvement (LTI) 

LTI eliminates artificial shadows created 

during light to dark transitions. Pictures 

are thus displayed in more detail and 

writing is much clearer.

Multi-format recorder 

Multi-format recording means that 

different disc formats can be played in the 

intended standards. The most widespread 

recording is done in DVD+R/RW and 

DVD-R/RW disc formats. Multi-format 

recording ensures compatibility with most 

commercially available DVD players. It 

goes without saying that the multi-format 

recorder can also play DVDs and CDs. 

MusicBox 

Music files in MP3 format saved on a 

USB stick or a memory card in a card 

reader can easily be played with the 

MusicBox. The content of the storage 

media can be browsed and/or sorted 

according to certain criteria (file name, 

title, artist, album) using the coloured 

buttons and saved in the playback list 

in the common M3u format.

Network connections (Fig. 7) 

LAN, WLAN and Powerline, are three 

different network options which allow 

you to access multimedia content on 

the home network directly, e.g. from a 

connected PC, or network hard drive. 

The TV set can be connected via LAN 

to the router using an Ethernet network 

cable, and the high data rate enables 

even HD videos to be transferred to 

the television. The WLAN interface, 

additionally integrated on the Connect 

Media, enables the wireless exchange 

of data. With Powerline, you can transfer 

data via the mains using the optionally 

available dLAN 200 AV adapter. This 

method is also suitable for HD videos 

thanks to the high speed. Powerline 

uses the existing mains and is therefore 

particularly convenient to install. 

Network Media Player 

TV sets equipped with the Network Media 

Player allow you to play multimedia 

content (photos, music files, videos) 

saved on a storage medium in your 

home network and made available by a 

media server. The Network Media Player 

can access a variety of types of storage 

media in the network (e. g. PCs, Network 

Attached Storages (NAS). The TV set can 

be connected to the home network using 

a cable (LAN, Powerline) and partially 

via a wireless connection (WLAN). The 

Network Media Player supports the UPnP 

AV standard. The Twonkyvision Media

With PIP-AV, a picture from an external 

source such as a DVD recorder can 

be displayed at the same time as the 

television picture without any additional 

receiver (unlike full PIP). 

PIP (Full PIP) 

The TV is equipped with a second receiver. 

This second receiver makes it possible 

to display a second channel as picturein-picture 

via a cable TV connection, a 

terrestrial antenna or an integrated Twin 

Sat upgrade kit. Restricted DVB and HDTV 

reception may occur. 

Power consumption when on

The specifications for ‘On (average)’ in 

the European standard EN 62087: 2009 

are used as a basis for measuring power 

consumption. The picture settings which 

the manufacturer envisages for use in 

the normal home environment apply.

PRX sound 

The PRX sound system (Passive Reflex 

Sound system) is a further development 

of the established Loewe CRX ® sound 

system. It is ideally suited to the speaker 

box designs with even flatter profiles for 

the new slim look, producing full-bodied 

bass without any loss of sound. A normal 

or folded bass reflex tube, as used in 

top-of-the-range LCD TVs, takes up too 

much room in a slim LCD set. Therefore, 

in the Art SL, for example, it is replaced 

by a large rear passive membrane – and 

so even less depth is required to produce 

the same volume. 

Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) 

PCM is the standard procedure when 

recording digital audio signals on audio 

CDs. DVDs are able to record more 

data. That’s why they record using the 

linear PCM process, which uses a higher 

sampling frequency.

Response time 

The time it takes liquid crystals to change 

from an inactive (blocks light) to an active 

(light passes through) state when an 

electrical charge is applied. The shorter 

the response time, the faster the picture 

is formed and the fewer picture artifacts. 

Black and white are not always assigned 

to the inactive to active range, switching 

times between grey values are also often 

stated. 

Resume Function 

Loewe DVD recorders store the beginning 

and ending positions for the disc currently 

inserted. If you have to stop a DVD film 

partway through, the player ‘remembers’ 

the exact position the next time it is 

turned on.

SmartCard 

The SmartCard is an electronic chip card 

issued by the respective broadcaster 

or registration-free pay TV operator. It 

contains the code that is decoded by

Videotext with considerably more colours 

as well as higher resolution graphics for 

a vivid, enhanced display. Videotext Level 

2.5 is broadcast by an increasing number 

of television stations. 

Videotimer 

The Loewe TV set and DVD recorder work 

together perfectly for timer-controlled 

video recordings – even for satellite 

broadcasts. With manual programming, 

only the channel and record times 

need be set. The Loewe DVD recorder 

then receives its commands from the
