Course description
Whilst working through the award your staff will be able to demonstrate the skills they already possess and
develop new skills.
The programme develops good awareness of:
- How to identify the needs of clients/residents and how to support these needs.
- Confidentiality and record keeping, both of which are important in the care setting.
- Good communication skills needed to support clients/residents and staff.
- Staff will also be able to identify risks to themselves and the clients/residents.

Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care
Entry requirements
This course is appropriate for members of staff who provide daily support and care to adults and older people.
This support could be given within a care setting, day care, or in their own home.
There will be an initial meeting to discuss suitability of the qualification prior to enrolment. The staff member
must be in a suitable job role to meet the requirements of this award.
Assessment details
The course is delivered at the workplace by a qualified assessor. The assessor will visit the staff regularly to
set work and help the candidate to complete the units needed for the award. Times for the visits will be
arranged to suit the staff and assessor. Learning materials are provided for the staff to help with their course.
The staff member proves they have achieved the award by gathering evidence with guidance from the
assessor.

This course can start anytime during the year at a time to suit yourself and your employer.

Further study and progression
We offer a range of level 1, 2 and 3 courses, as well as degree courses and apprenticeships. After successful
completion of this course, progression is possible onto courses such as:

Fee details:
Age 19-23
The government's Workplace Learning (WPL) will fully fund the cost of this level 2 qualification for any
employee aged between 19 and 23 years old who has not yet gained their first level 2 qualification. If you are
aged 19-23 with an existing level 2 qualification you may be eligible for co-funding to cover part of the fees. In
this instance, eligibility will depend entirely upon the size of the organisation you work for. Please contact us
and we will be able to check eligibility and confirm any fees.
Age 24+
If you are aged 24+ years the government's Workplace Learning (WPL) may be available to co-fund part of the
fees. In this instance, eligibility will depend entirely upon the size of the organisation you work for. Please
