12 Cattle Crushes SARACEN DRAFTING CRUSH PREMIUM RANGE - SARACEN DRAFTING NEW Features include PRODUCT • Fully welded flat treadplate floor which allows easy access for suckling calves when training on to teat • Each side of the Saracen Drafting crush has centrally closing access gates (like the full access crush) to the bottom section, with a captive rump bar, contained within the outer drafting gates. Access gates have up & down bolts • There is a fully removable rail to the top section as a full length of the crush, similar to the easy access sections on a crusader crush to allow access to the back of the animal • The unique part of this crush is that it allows the whole side gate to be opened up so that any animal approaching the crush can easily be drafted out to either side, with one operator able to do this from the rear of the crush. • The drafting gates close to the front of the crush and hangs from the rear, so the animal will be heading away from the operator. • Weighing with manual drafting operated from one position LENGTH 2815mm BASE LENGTH 2560mm WIDTH 838mm INTERNAL WIDTH 738mm HEIGHT 2000mm F045 2005 09 £2920.00 The Saracen Drafting crush is a multi purpose crate, designed for use both as a normal Saracen crush, but also to allow the operator to draft an animal out of the crush to either the left or right through full height side opening panels. Both sides of the Saracen Drafting Crush body feature rear hinged, full height side panels designed to open to allow the operator to draft and animal to either the left of the right of the crush. This would usually be done when weighing the animal, and in this instance the yoke gates do not have to be used, the crush body would then in effect serve as a weighing crate. The body of the crush has been lengthened compared to a standard Saracen crush to allow an animal to stand fully inside the crush without the animal being yoked. This unit is therefore designed to use load bars only as it is not compatible with the mechanical weigh platform. The operator should stand at the rear of the crush and allow animals to enter through a sliding door that is not attached to the crush. Best practise here is to have the sliding door situated at the end of the race bringing the animals into this crush and the crush sitting independently of the race, to avoid interference with weighing. Sliding doors are not supplied with the crush and need to be bought separately. Using the sliding door the animal can then be free to walk into the crush and can stand within it without yoking. Once weighed and the weight recorded, the operator can the draft the animal to either the left of the right hand side of the crush, depending on what criteria the animal has met. It is possible then to also draft forwards by moving to the yoke and allowing the animal to leave the crush in that direction. The drafting operation is worked from the rear of the crush. Either side panel can be opened remotely (opening the spring bolts that are at the front end of each drafting gate). On the operator side this is a rope pull operation. On the opposite side to the operator a lever above the crush operates/pulls the rope on the opposite side. This lever also aides in opening the sides panel once the spring bolt is released, and allows the operator to close the opposite side door without having to walk around to the other side of the crush to do so. This crush is supplied to be operated from one side only. PREMIUM RANGE - CHIEFTAIN CHIEFTAIN YOKE Cattle Crushes 13 A manually operated scissor action yoke with easy entry yoke bars which retract fully into the sides of the crush, with a lever operating handle which lifts the yoke upwards after the animals head has gone past, allowing infinite adjustment of the neck yoke apertures between 100mm and 290mm. Fully opening front and side gates form the front cage enabling greater access around the head. Vertical yoke arms reduce the risk of choking if the animal collapses, whilst the new detachable height restriction bar with variable settings greatly reduces any instances of cattle trapping their legs in the yoke pivot arms. The chieftain is also compatible with our Super Scoop® (see Page 22 for details) CHIEFTAIN FULL ACCESS Features include • Fully welded tapered tread plate floor to help keep the animals feet inside the crush when the side doors are open • Two full height side doors on each side (hinged from each end) allow full access with no obstructions to the animal’s flanks • Comes complete with a single removable rail on each side which prevents the animal’s body swinging out of the crush when both side doors are opened. This rail can be left in situ when the side doors are closed • Traditional backing up bar facility.
