Duration of Study<br />
International students are required to complete their full <strong>Programme</strong> with<strong>in</strong> twelve<br />
months from their date of enrolment. As a postgraduate student you should expect to<br />
get a visa that lasts for four months after the completion date of the course given <strong>in</strong><br />
your acceptance of an unconditional offer letter.<br />
When do the Semesters run?<br />
The general rule is that Semester 1 runs for a twelve-week period from September to<br />
December and Semester 2 runs for a twelve-week period from late January to early<br />

What should I write <strong>in</strong> my Personal Statement?<br />
The aim is to provide the Course Leader with <strong>in</strong>formation regard<strong>in</strong>g your career<br />
objectives/plans and how your previous tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and relevant work experience makes<br />
you a suitable candidate, and what your future career aspirations are. Please write<br />
between 600 and 800 words.<br />
What are my chances of work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the UK after complet<strong>in</strong>g my studies?<br />
Realistically, work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the UK is highly competitive, as students are compet<strong>in</strong>g with<br />
UK and EU students for the few posts available. International students who<br />
successfully complete their degree may be able to apply for a Post-study work visa.<br />

Similarly, Course Leaders will advise whether the course that students <strong>in</strong>tend to take<br />
will be recognised as a bridg<strong>in</strong>g course for those wish<strong>in</strong>g to take the Professional and<br />
L<strong>in</strong>guistics Assessments Board test (PLAB) or those wish<strong>in</strong>g to register with the<br />
Health Professions Council (HPC).<br />
How will I be assessed?<br />
The mode of assessment for the modules varies from discursive written assignments<br />
of 3,000 words or more, to exam<strong>in</strong>ations and group presentations. Further<br />
<strong>in</strong>formation is available from the Adm<strong>in</strong>istrator and Course Leader.<br />
Where does the teach<strong>in</strong>g take place?<br />
The majority of the teach<strong>in</strong>g takes place at the School of Health and Social Care,<br />

Park<strong>in</strong>g<br />
There is no park<strong>in</strong>g available either at the School, or on the Head<strong>in</strong>gton Campus<br />
because it’s situated <strong>in</strong> a residential area, and so students make use of either the<br />
<strong>Brookes</strong> Bus, or the Park & Ride Facilities that are on offer:<br />
