Bounds
Boarders at Somerville House are in the care of the House
Mistress on Duty (MoD) in each House, who must know
the whereabouts of all girls 24 hours a day. Boarders must
never leave the School grounds without the permission of the
Mistress on Duty in the relevant House.
DAYTIME
Boarders are expected to leave Craig Hall and Mavis Holden
by 7.30 am to go to the main house (Cumbooquepa) for
breakfast. All girls must leave main house by 8.15 am
each school day taking with them all requirements (books,
clothing, sports gear, etc.) for the whole day. If boarders are
going on an excursion during the day they should take all
requirements with them in the morning.
Boarding Houses are out of bounds on school
days between 8.15 am and 3.10 pm.
Family, friends and day students are not encouraged to enter
any of the Boarding Houses without the express permission
of the Mistress in charge of that House. This ensures your
daughter’s privacy at all times.
During class time, boarders should not move beyond the
area of the School buildings and immediate grounds.
All girls are able to use the main Olympic pool in the Aquatic
Centre during the hours it is supervised.
Boarders must sign out if they leave their own House at any
time, and should report to the Mistress on Duty on arrival at
the other House.
EVENING
After the evening meal, boarders may not be outside their
Boarding House without permission. If it is absolutely
necessary for them to move around the School grounds after
dark they must travel in groups or with a mistress.
The kitchen and pantry are out of bounds to boarders
at all times.
