FIVE STAR ELECTRONICS ASSEMBLY

The system electronics are housed in a
metal enclosure, ruggedly constructed to
minimise electromagnetic interference as
well as offer a high degree of protection for
the electronics assemblies.
Electronics Assembly is the
The
heart of the Clipsal Room
functional
System installation, consisting
Control
the various intelligent microprocessor
of
assemblies and custom software,
The mains side cabling and signal cabling
are electrically and physically separated
within the enclosure, which can be
installed into a building without the need to
include the electronic assemblies until
final system commissioning.
12 CHANNEL OUTPUT
MODULE
Catalogue Number
6000M12
The 12 Channel Output Module is the central
element of the Clipsal Room Control System,
stored in non volatile memory. The
and each system requires this module.
distributed intelligence of the system
ensures reliable, cost efficient performance
of the system.
This protects the electronics from dust
and other foreign materials typical in a
building environment. During final
installation and commissioning, the
modules may be plugged into the preassembled
and pre-configured enclosure
for final testing and integration.
This output module provides 12 digital
outputs which are used to control the Relay
Cards, it also includes the C-Bus clock
source and the power supply regulation for
the Clipsal RCS electronics.
It also provides the user with a two wire connection
and power requirements for connection
of up to four C-Bus modules directly to
the Room Control System electronics.
Each system may be configured to customer
requirements using a number of assemblies
in a particular application.
Up to seven card slots are provided for control
cards, with provision for up to three output
cards, for lighting and air-conditioning control.
The brilliantly conceived, yet remarkably
inexpensive Room Control System electronics
assembly consists of the following
standard system modules.
NETWORK MODULE
Catalogue Number
6050NM
The Room Control System can operate
either as a ‘stand alone’ system or networked
with other systems as well as

energy management systems, like Clipsal
C-Bus for example.
The system is connected together via a C-
Bus network which provides the communication
between the connected Room Control
Systems and the host computer. In this way
each room can be monitored or controlled
from a central location.
This connection takes the form of the standard
unshielded twisted pair, telephone cable.
4 CHANNEL RELAY,
INTERLOCKED MODULE
Catalogue Number
6050R4AC
The primary function of this module is to
control the various air-conditioning
systems in hotel guest rooms.
This module contains 4 input and 4 output
ports and are used in conjunction with the
Room Control System Key Input switches.
The output ports are used to drive indicator
lamps associated with the input port.
These units are required for the system to
operate from remote switches, in the same
way as the Bedside Console.
4 CHANNEL RELAY MODULE
Catalogue Number
6050R4
This module controls mains switching
function and is available in a standard 8A
(per channel) version, suitable for incandescent
and fluorescent switching. Up to 16A
load current can be switched by any one
module. A low cost range of Relay Modules
are available at a lower current rating.
Four relays on each module provide individual
switch outputs. Provision is made to loop
active and common circuits on each module
for connection to the next module. All outputs
operate from the same voltage phase.
The extra low voltage side is isolated from
the mains outputs side for added safety.
The module has four 8A (per channel)
relays, 16A total for the unit. Three relays
are interlocked to directly control three
speed fan motors while the fourth is used to
signal the air conditioning controller and / or
thermostat. The interlocked relays provide a
hardware solution to the problem of power
being applied to more than one switched
output at a time.
The extra low voltage side is isolated from
the mains output side for added safety.
4 CHANNEL INPUT / OUTPUT
MODULE
Catalogue Number
6000M4
INFRARED MODULE
Catalogue Number
6000IRM
This module provides the additional option
to the system to control external infrared
devices such as televisions and air-conditioning
units. The control point can be from
any Key Input or Bedside Console.
The module requires the connection of an
external infrared transmitter to be placed in
close proximity to the device under control,
and a leaded cable assembly consisting of
the transmitter is provide for this purpose.
The software has the capability of selecting
the infrared codes of a wide range of
equipment, and stores the infra-red codes in
non volatile memory on the assembly.

STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY
AUDIO MODULE
Catalogue Number
6000AM
This module has three functions, an electronic
door bell generator, audio input
selector and audio amplifier. The audio input
is selected from 4 audio input sources, which
can be balanced or unbalanced, via double
pole relays and isolation transformers.
The volume may be controlled from the
Bedside Console, or alternatively from a Key
Input unit. The volume of the television or
The modular architecture of the Clipsal
Room Control System is the key to this
flexible and reliable hotel system.
The system is easy to install, using low cost
data cable for control wiring, while at the
same time lending itself to up-grades and
modifications in the future. The majority of
programming is completed at the factory, to
the customer’s requirements.
12 Channel
output module
Bedside panel
The Clipsal RCS is able to successfully
interface with all electronic equipment in the
hotel room, as well as integrate as part of
the overall Hotel Information System, for
total energy management.
The features and benefits of the Clipsal RCS
will be more than satisfy the goals of the
architect, engineer and hotelier.
Serial Data Bus
radio may be controlled using this module.
