Although stress and psychological factors appear to influence atopic dermatitis, evidence <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>ir impact is limited. 12<br />

Chida et al undertook a systemic review and meta-analysis <strong>of</strong> cohort studies <strong>of</strong> psychosocial<br />

factors and atopic disorders. They reported a bidirecti<strong>on</strong>al relati<strong>on</strong>ship between <strong>the</strong> two and<br />

noted that early childhood adverse psychosocial episodes were associated with an<br />

increased risk <strong>of</strong> developing atopic disease. Most studies dealt with asthma. 33<br />
