Cal Shakes’ Summer Shakespeare Conservatory offer a
theater experience rooted in the same passion for
artistic exploration and excellence that guides our awardwinning
Main Stage productions. This is no ordinary
summer camp. We provide a safe and nurturing environment
for our students to set aside limits: to be courageous and
open to surprise as they immerse themselves in the drama,
immediacy, and power of Shakespeare’s plays.
Participants spend the morning playing and creating in a
wide variety of theater disciplines, taught by working theater
professionals. The experience culminates in Shakespeare
performances for family and friends at the end of the program.
For the first time ever, Cal Shakes is offering high school
students a Tech/Design Track at our Lafayette location,
introducing students to the design fundamentals and
practical skills needed to work with lighting, sound, sets,
costumes, props, scenic painting, and more.
