Summer
With more than 300 days of sunshine annually, there’s
always something here to explore and experience.
Summertime in Leadville and Twin Lakes brings a
bounty of blooming wildflowers, daytime temperatures
in the mid-70s and cool, fresh air at night.
Fall
In the fall our mountains turn brilliant shades of
yellow, gold and orange. Check out the turning of the
aspen trees during a scenic drive, hike or bike; from our
golf course or a historic train; while casting a line or on
horseback.

You’ll feel a world away from city life, but our
four-season destination is just 100 miles from Denver
and 130 miles from Colorado Springs—a one-tank trip
that’s easy on the budget and on the eyes. All the
highways in Lake County are part of the Top of the
Rockies Scenic and Historic Byway, one of the most
beautiful drives in all of Colorado—if not the country.
Charming downtown
Harrison Avenue and the streets in downtown
Leadville are lined with Victorian architecture,
specialty shops, antique stores, restaurants and
museums. Check out locally-made foods, clothing and
artwork. Dining runs the gamut from a quick bite to a
relaxing meal to slowly savor with friends and family.
After dark, sidle up to the bar in an 1880s saloon,
dance to live music or take a moonlight stroll through
downtown.

What’s winter like in the highest-elevation city in
North America? It means abundant, all-natural snow
for downhill skiing and riding, and 50+ miles of free,
groomed trails for Nordic skiing, hiking, snowshoeing,
snow biking and snowmobiling. Our springtime
visitors continue to enjoy the winter trails before the
snowmelt. Backcountry skiing is abundant and there
are various locations to enjoy it.

District, dusk walking tours and moonlight stargazing
all year.
