Dr Mani Raman
Dr. Mani Raman is not only a leader the field of medical
and surgical dermatology, he is also a pioneer of new
technologies aimed at improving the lives and looks of
his patients. He is committed to finding the best and
least invasive ways of restoring a vibrant and youthful
appearance. He strives to maintain the most up to date
technologies in facial and body rejuvenation.
A respected authority in his field, Dr. Raman is a sought
after spokesperson and lecturer for the cosmetic
dermatology
industry. He is also an educator for medical students
and
postgraduate trainees both from Canada and abroad.
Dr. Raman completed his undergraduate training at the
University of Ottawa, and his medical and dermatology
training at the University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of
the Royal
College of Physicians of Canada, Fellow of the American
Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery,
and a
Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. He
also holds a Masters Degree in Physiology.
His major interests lie in non-invasive cosmetic
rejuvenation techniques. This includes Botox injections,
dermal fillers, lip augmentation, wrinkle removal,
chemical peels, sclerotherapy,
microdermabrasion, laser hair removal, intense pulsed
light photorejuvenation, laser vein removal, non-surgical
face lifts (Thermage), photodynamic therapy, and
tumescent liposuction.
He is also committed to medical dermatology, skin
cancer
surgery and clinical trials investigating new and
innovative
therapies for skin diseases. Dr. Raman and his staff

Introduction
Rejuvenate
This refers to methods that remove the
outer layers of the skin to yield a
smoother, more even-coloured texture.
Resurfacing techniques are used to
treat sun damaged, weathered, aged
and scarred skin and stretch marks.
Examples: Chemical Peels, IPL
Microdermabrasion
Relax
The facial muscles of expression, if
used too much, can result in “frown
lines” between the eyes, “worry lines” of
the brow or “crows feet” beside the
eyes. By relaxing these muscles we
are able to interfere with the
development or progression of such
lines.
Example: Botox
Resculpt
Over time and with sun damage, the
skin loses its elasticity and may begin
to sag. This is especially true in the
lower face and neck. By tightening the
collagen and recontouring the fatty
tissue, we can turn back the clock.
Examples: Thermage
Tumescent Liposuction
Replace
As we age, loss of collagen and atrophy
of fatty tissue can result in deeper
wrinkles and folds that are too deep to be
adequately affected by resurfacing
techniques. Similarly, acne can also
result in atrophic scars. Replacement of
lost skin tissue can reverse these
problems.

Fat Transfer

Lasers
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
Unsightly age spots, sun spots,
freckles, facial veins due to sun
exposure and rosacea can be easily
removed by IPL technology. The
procedure is relatively painless,
associated with no down time and
takes less than 1 hour.
Cost: $150 — 650/session

Laser Hair Removal
Unwanted hair can easily and
permanently be removed from all skin
types
(Type I—VI) with no down time and
without significant discomfort.
Cost: $80 — 600/session

Laser Vein Removal (YAG Laser)
Dilated leg veins can not only be
unsightly but can also be painful.
Typically they develop after child
birth but there may also be a genetic
component. YAG lasers (along with
sclerotherapy — vein injection) can
easily leave you with attractive,
blemish free legs.
Cost: $150 — 350/session

Dermal Fillers
Restylane & Perlane
Restylane & Perlane are
non-permanent dermal
fillers derived from a
non-animal source. It is
composed of hyaluronic
acid (HA), a natural skin
constituent. As we age
the amount of HA in our
skin decreases, resulting
in the appearance of
deep lines, wrinkles and
thinning lips. The
procedure is painless,
and safe with immediate
improvement that lasts
about 6 months.
Repeated treatments
can provide prolonged
improvement.
Cost per syringe:
Restylane — $350-450
Perlane — $550
Artecoll
Artecoll is the first
permanent filling agent
to be approved in
Canada. It is made up
of microspheres of
polymethy methacrylate
(PMMA) suspended in
collagen. Dr. Raman
injects it into the desired
area, quickly and
virtually painlessly. A
skin test is necessary 1
month prior to using
Artecoll. The
microspheres encourage
an increase in your own
natural collagen. Thus,
the beautiful effects are
more enduring than
other injectables.

Resurfacing
BOTOX Cosmetic
Botox Cosmetic is used in the
treatment of “dynamic
wrinkles”. These are wrinkles
caused by repeated muscle
contractions such as frowning,
squinting, and brow furrowing.
This is the most popular upper
face rejuvenation procedure
performed at our office. The
procedure is simple, painless
and can be performed in about
15 minutes. Results are
usually evident in 3-10 days
and last 4-6 months. Repeated
treatments can provide
permanent improvement.
Microdermabrasion
This is a simple, painless
procedure using fine corundum
crystals for mechanical peeling
of the skin. It is very useful for
improvement of acne, enlarged
pores, scars and stretch marks.
Cost for procedure:
$150 /session
Chemical Peels
A variety of acids (glycolic,
salicylic, amino,
trichloroacetic) are used to
peel from superficial to deep
layers of the skin. This
procedure is very useful for
improving acne, fine lines,
scars, melasma and age
Cost spots. for procedure:

depending on the type
of peel

Thermage
Thermage is a safe, relatively
painless in-office facial
tightening procedure. It has
been referred to as a non
surgical Thermage
“face lift”. It works by
using radio frequency (RF)
energy to uniformly heat the
collagen layer (dermis) while
cooling and protecting the upper
layers (epidermis). It causes
both immediate collagen
contraction and new collagen
deposition that occurs over 3 to
6 months. Results are seen
immediately and improve over
the following few months. There
is absolutely no down time after
the procedure. Only one session
is necessary and it can safely be
performed in all skin types.

Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent
Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction is
a minimally invasive
procedure which resculpts
the body,
removing collections of
fatty tissue and
smoothing out lumpy
pockets of fat to
improve face and body
contours. It is performed
totally under local
anesthesia. After the
procedure you will be
walking out of the office.
A typical session
requires no more than 2
days off work.
