Article 1<br />

All children under <strong>the</strong> age <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 18 are entitled to all <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong>se rights<br />

Article 2<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right not to be discriminated against in any way.<br />

Article 3<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have good decisi<strong>on</strong>s to be made for you.<br />

Article 4<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have your rights respected and made real by <strong>the</strong> government.<br />

Article 5<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to be looked after by your parents if you have <strong>the</strong>m.<br />

Article 6<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to a life.<br />

Article 7<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to be given a name and a nati<strong>on</strong>ality.<br />

Article 8<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to be an individual.<br />

Article 9<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to live with your parents, unless this would not be appropriate.<br />

Article 10<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to live with your parents in <strong>the</strong> country that <strong>the</strong>y live.<br />

Article 11<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right not to be kidnapped or moved to ano<strong>the</strong>r country.<br />

Article 12<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to say what you think and you must be listened to.<br />

Article 13<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to get informati<strong>on</strong> and say what you think.<br />

Article 14<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to believe what you want, and you can follow any religi<strong>on</strong> that you<br />

wish.<br />

Article 15<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to meet up with o<strong>the</strong>r people and be able to set up youth clubs.<br />

Article 16<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have a private life.<br />

Article 17<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have informati<strong>on</strong> from TV, radio, books, etc.<br />

Article 18<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to live with your parents if this is possible.<br />

Article 19<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to be protected from being hurt, abuse and neglect.<br />

Article 20<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have protecti<strong>on</strong> and care if it is not possible for you to live with<br />

your parents.<br />

Article 21<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have a good adopted home if you d<strong>on</strong>'t live with your parents.<br />

Article 22<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have protecti<strong>on</strong> and help if you are a refugee.<br />

Article 23<br />

If you have a disability, you have <strong>the</strong> right to have special care and educati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Article 25<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have your placement checked regularly if you d<strong>on</strong>'t live at home.<br />

Article 26<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to help from <strong>the</strong> government if you are poor or need help in some<br />

way.<br />

Article 27<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have a good place to grow up in.<br />

Article 28<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have a good educati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Article 29<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to have an educati<strong>on</strong> that will help you learn about yourself, o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

people and <strong>the</strong>ir rights.<br />

Article 30<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to speak your own language and practice your own religi<strong>on</strong> or culture.<br />

Article 31<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to play and have time to play in.<br />

Article 32<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right not to take part in work that may be unhealthy for you, or that stops<br />

you from getting a good educati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Article 33<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to be protected from using, making or selling dangerous drugs.<br />

Article 34<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to be protected from sexual abuse and harassment.<br />

Article 35<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right not to be kidnapped or sold.<br />

Article 36<br />

The have <strong>the</strong> right not to be exploited.<br />

Article 37<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right not to be punished cruelly or tortured. You also have <strong>the</strong> right not to<br />

be placed in a pris<strong>on</strong> with adults.<br />

Article 38<br />

If you are under 15, you have <strong>the</strong> right not to join an army or fight in a war. If you are in<br />

a war z<strong>on</strong>e, you have <strong>the</strong> right to be protected from any harm.<br />

Article 39<br />

If you have been hurt, badly treated or neglected, you have <strong>the</strong> right to help to put<br />

things right.<br />

Article 40<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to help when defending yourself in court. If you have broken <strong>the</strong> law,<br />

your age must be taken into account.<br />

Article 41<br />

If <strong>the</strong> rights in any country are better for you than any <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> <strong>on</strong>es here, you are entitled<br />

to that right, ra<strong>the</strong>r than <strong>the</strong> <strong>on</strong>e written here.<br />

Article 42<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> right to know about your rights. The government must make sure that this<br />

happens.<br />

The rest <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> articles do not give any more rights, but <strong>the</strong>y discuss how<br />

governments and o<strong>the</strong>r organisati<strong>on</strong>s will work toge<strong>the</strong>r to make sure that all<br />

children do get all <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> rights listed here.<br />
