Whitbourne farmers serve up a treat
Whitbourne’s annual Farmers’ Breakfast went with
a swing at the beginning of February, as 120 people
came to Whitbourne village hall for the now-familiar
spread of stewed fruit, yoghurt, muesli, a fabulous
fry-up and toast, with endless tea or coffee.
Raising money for Cancer Research, the event
raised £766, and gave everyone the chance to come
out of winter hibernation. All the produce used
comes from local sources and was served by some
of the people who produce it.
Father David and the catering team slaved over hot
stoves or hot washing up bowls, while waitresses
Alice Holborow and Sally Evans were kept busy all
morning as people were, as ever, reluctant to leave
even after they had eaten their fill.
Geoff Holborow, one of the organisers, said: “We
would like to thank David and the catering team, all
the people who donated produce, all those who
helped out on the day, and, of course, everyone
who came along for breakfast. I think it went well
and everyone seemed to have a good time.”
