B. VA/VE: Value Analysis/Value Engineering
VA/VE is a systematic problem solving process that involves identifying the functions of a product, determining
the cost of those functions, and providing those functions reliably at the lowest overall cost. VA examines current
products in an effort to detect and correct value problems and reduce costs.
VE focuses on new products in an effort to identify and prevent value problems before production. This ensures
that cost avoidance is designed into the product. CVG expects its suppliers to participate pro-actively in the
VA/VE program when called upon.
