Candidates’ Statements
Candidate Statement for Dennis Hill
I have served as your Fourth Division Superintendent for the past two years. It has been an honor for
me, but also trying at times dealing with the various issues that have arisen! I feel that there are still unresolved
issues within the Division and I ask for your support again. If I am running unopposed for this office,
I ask for your Vote of Confidence for one more two-year term as your Superintendent.
If anyone else would like to help or make suggestions, please let me know your thoughts or ideas to
make the Division better.
Candidate Statement for JJ Johnston
Perhaps you have attended one of the meetings of the Eastside Get Together in Bellevue where I have
been the volunteer chair for several years. Or perhaps you have read my reporting on our meetings in the
monthly Grab Iron. Perhaps you have visited an open house at my home HO scale layout of the Puget
Sound Iron Goat Railway, a mythical subsidiary of the Great Northern in 1939, or perhaps you have seen
photos of the layout in the Grab Iron. Perhaps you might remember my layout story by Paul Scoles in the
Jan/Feb 2003 Narrow Gauge Gazette. Perhaps you are aware of the updated Gus Swanberg 4th Division
logo and patch for which I served as chair of the new design committee. Perhaps you have attended one of
the scenery clinics I have presented, and perhaps you have met me at one of the local conventions. There is
also a big-time possibility you don’t know who I am at all. I came to the hobby in my later years and have
only been an NMRA member since 1995. I truly enjoy all aspects of our hobby; and as a REALTOR, I have been privileged
to assist several of you in finding the right layout space with a home attached. I have served one term on the Board of Directors
and wish to continue my service. Perhaps you will honor me by supporting my current nomination. I thank you for your
