Background<br />

<strong>Anglo</strong> <strong>Irish</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> Corporation plc is an integrated banking group with an asset base of IR£6.2<br />

billion, supported by capital resources in excess of IR£550 million.The <strong>Bank</strong> was incorporated<br />

in 1964, became a public company in 1971 and in the last ten years gross assets have increased<br />

by a multiple of twenty.<br />

While the growth has largely been achieved organically, the <strong>Bank</strong> has pursued a strategy of<br />

acquiring businesses which are similar from a risk perspective and also complementary to<br />

existing activities.<br />

All of these acquisitions have been fully assimilated into the group structure generating valuable<br />
