AIA Chicago and Rebuilding Together<br />

Lead Volunteer Group<br />

National Rebuilding Together Day is an annual event organized by the<br />

nonprot Rebuilding Together, in which volunteers work together to renovate<br />

homes belonging to elderly, disabled and low-income homeowners.<br />

AIA Chicago and Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago volunteers joined<br />

forces on Saturday, April 25, for a day of home repairs in Maywood.<br />

Repairs this year included replacing tile, countertops and appliances in the<br />

kitchen, as well as adding grab bars and railings around the home. The group<br />

also painted four rooms and exterior trim, repaired damaged joists, and<br />

installed columns in the basement.<br />

Applications are now being accepted for AIA Chicago’s highly successful<br />

Bridge mentorship program, which pairs emerging professionals and AIA<br />

College of Fellows members. Applications are due Aug. 7, 2015, and the<br />

program will run from August to November.<br />
