I was sad when I retired from teaching until I found Adler. I could still teach and unlike with
teenagers was appreciated, valued and all my students tried hard and wanted to do well! I’ve found

“I can’t thank Mike and Elaine enough for creating the magnificent Adler Aphasia Center for people
with aphasia over ten years ago and inviting me to become a volunteer there. It was one of the
best decisions that I have made in my life. The staff, members, caregivers, and volunteers have all
become “my extended family.” It is a place filled with learning and laughter. I continue to receive
much gratification and reward whenever I am there helping others. Mike and Elaine are extremely
generous, thoughtful and compassionate people who treat everyone with dignity, kindness and
