the fact that we, as a people, are under
the CURSE of ill health!

has totally changed! Whereas in 1900
rhe four leading causes of death in the
United States per 100,000 population
were: tuberculosis, pneumonia, diarrhea
and related intestinal diseases and then
diseases of the heart, by 1957 the leading
causes of death were diseases of the
heart FIRST, tbe1l cancer, and tben accidents!
Tuberculosis, formerly the leading
calise of death in 1900 had dropped to
tenth place by 1957.
Bur, according to the latest figures
in [he U.s. Public H ealth Service, the
lead ing killers in [he United Scates today
are heart disease in fi rst place, then
cancer, strokes (anerial and circulatOry),
accidents, and then diseases of infancy.
Can you comprehend whae is happen·
ing? As ehe result of a basic, under·
lying CAUSE, the whole disease pattern
in the United States is gradually cba1zging!
WHAT IS THE CAUSE?
Ar the very rOOt and core of all
human nature is VAN ITY! God inspired
Solomon to write "Vani ty of vanities,
ALL is vaniey, saieh the preacher!" (Eee.
1: 2). A great part of vanity is LUST
and GREED!

mild and completely overpowering
PLEASURE you are supposed

smoke you inhale into your lungs!
LOOK at our advertising of such
commodities today! The entire emphasis
is an appeal to human vanity, and human
lust.'
So it is in our food and dice.
It has been said "You are what you
eat," and truer words were never spoken.
Bur rake a long. horrified look at WHAT
WE EAT! It seems people always look
for SHORT CUTS! We believe we muse
IMPROVE on nacure. Instead of leering
our cattle farren naturally, we must IN­
JECT them with some strange che1nicais
which compleeely change and alter even
their very 1Jatlf1'e (and maybe our own),
which we hope will fa tten them more
quickly!
We dare not make bread which will
spoil, and then ear it before it doesbur
we practically EMBALM our bread
with chemical preservatives.
To mass-produce eggs, we force· feed
hens in tiny wire cubicles, whose
gnarl ed and deformed feet never tOuch
che ground. where their soft, flatulent,
unhealthy bodies cannot gee any exercise
-and where [hey never even hear the
croll' of a rooster-and then wonder why
our eggs are chiD shelled, and "splash"
on the griddle! Ghastly!
Om era of TV dinners, frozen foods,
packaged foods, pre-cooked foods, revitalized
foods, "shot from guns" foods,
colored and dyed foods, prepared foods
is all aimed at [he basic LUST of humar
beings! LUST FOR ADDIT IONAL TIM
