Internationally recognised PEFC (the Programme<br />
for the Endorsement of Forest Certification)<br />
promotes sustainably managed forests through<br />
independent third party certification. This<br />
scheme has certified and audited NorDan AS<br />
windows and doors as achieving full PEFC chain<br />
of custody, thus verifying that the timber used<br />
in the manufacture of the products comes from<br />
sustainably managed sources.<br />
Timber products, sourced from well managed<br />
forests, ensure that more trees are planted than<br />
are cut down for processing. The younger trees<br />
that are planted as replacements are better<br />
adapted for reducing atmospheric CO 2<br />
thus<br />
further reducing greenhouse gases. In some<br />
instances, areas of deciduous trees are planted<br />
within conifer forests to encourage a diversity<br />
of wildlife.<br />
