Club News February 2010
Well the year is off and running, we
have already had our first competition,
and once again we have been sooo lucky
with the weather. Some great rides
once again, with Jen Symes and Jim
Collin producing a 72% score each in the
Associate 1C and Kaleena, on her
beautiful mare Whisper riding a 70% in
the 3A. The day ran well, with Toni
Crossley our permanent Gear Steward
for the year set up in the usual spot.
The arenas looked superb, with all the
new rails in. The pipe has been
permanently retired now
.
The AGM was held on the 2 nd Feb, and
unfortunately not many members were
able to attend. A motion was put
forward that the AGM be held in
conjunction with our presentation night;
this was carried, so you will all be held
captive for the AGM now!!!!

The Judges Clinic held on the 6 th Feb at
Maxine’s place, went brilliantly. The
rain never stopped all day. Thank God
for Maxine’s beautiful indoor arena.
The attendance was great with over
thirty people and 12 of those Judges.
Well worth the effort. Special thanks
for our riders on the day. What a super
job they did, Jen Symes and Barb Vial
providing the prelim horses, Kaleena
Matthews and Joanne Simon the novice,
and Jim Collin, riding Tempe’s boy, and
Marion Hatwell riding the elementary.
All horses were on their best behaviour,
especially as I don’t think any of them
got much work during the wet week
before. To all who made excellent
cakes, slices and biscuits for morno’s
thanks so much, and to all other helpers
- Well done.
We have organised a Rider’s Clinic for
the 24 th April, by now everyone should
have received the flyer, if you haven’t
give me a ring.
There are new entry forms for 2010 so
please don’t use the old ones anymore.
The CDI is scheduled for the 29 th April
to the 2 nd May. The Club has purchased
a limited amount of tickets and booked
the bus. The flyer is attached. This
will be a NON REFUNDABLE booking
this year, due to some members booking
seats then not wanting them at the last
minute, leaving the club to pay for
surplice tickets last year. Won’t happen
again.
I have emailed out a flyer to members
interested in attending a session with
Lindsay Cook. Lindsay talks about
techniques to enhance your mental
strength to better your performance in
equestrian sports. I know this is just a
little ‘out side the square’, but I am sure
this would really help riders to focus
and reduce the nerve level before
competition.

This is Evergreen Lysander, the resulting foal from the service to the Friesian Stallion
‘The Wizzard’, donated to SDC by his owner Shirley Sim as a prize at the 2008 Dressage
Championships. The prize was won by Ros Quist who kindly transferred it to us as she did
not have a mare for breeding. We used the service on a small warmblood mare – Sweet
Georgia Brown, resulting in this lovely ly Friesian Warmblood foal. He is a lovely type with a
good physique and terrific temperament, has scored lots of 8s in his ACE assessment.
Lysander unfortunately lost his mother at 8 weeks but her paddock mates have taken him
under their care and he continues to thrive. We expect him to be black or very dark
brown and he has curls all through his coat and the beginnings of feathers. I would like to
thank Shirley and Ros for the opportunity of having this lovely boy.

And this beautiful girl is the Holz family baby. Her name is Jadore and she is the result
of the service Belinda won at the Triva night SDC ran a couple of years back. She has
been a long time in the making. Worth the wait though. In the photos she is 10 weeks old
and that was at Xmas time.

Ulladulla & District Riders Club
An unofficial dressage day has been scheduled for Sunday 11 th April 2010. It is
the Clubs first dressage day for the year. The competition will be held at Milton
Showground. Categories for Junior’s, Young Riders and Open. Tests from Prep to

Pointscore Rules
The pointscore rules for 2010 have been simplified so that there will be no
confusion as to who is eligible, they are as follows:
1. All financial riding members of Shoalhaven Dressage Club are automatically
eligible for club pointscore, regardless of the horse entered.
2. All horses entered for competition at any Shoalhaven Dressage Club event
MUST be owned by an EA member of a member of an EA-Affiliated Club.
This then protects the Club and is in line with insurance regulations as per
the National Body.
3. BOTH the RIDER and the OWNER not so covered by the above rules must
complete a Non Members Waiver and Day Membership form, together with
the correct subscription and must be in the hands of the Secretary with the
entry form BEFORE they are included on the draw.
