A-W-A-N-A CORNER
A-W-A-N-A (―Approved Workers Are Not Ashamed‖) meets on Sunday nights during the
evening service from 6:15 to 7:45 throughout the school year. Our AWANA program is split up
into three groups. Our Cubbies group (ages 3 and 4) meet in the beginner room. Our Sparks
(grades K – 2) and Truth and Training (grades 3 – 5) groups meet in the primary room. Each
Sunday night the children spend time learning verses from their handbooks, singing songs,
hearing a Bible lesson and playing games in the gym.
The goal of AWANA is ―to reach boys and girls for the gospel of Christ and to train them to
serve Him.‖ We have been blessed with a great opportunity to reach out to our neighborhood
and community. It has been exciting to see children from the community come in and be
excited to be part of the program and even bring their friends.
Please be in prayer for the leaders and helpers as well as the children that they may come to
know Jesus as their Savior and grow in the Word. If you have any questions or would like to
help in any part of our program, please contact Rob Burton at 610-558-8779 or
WEEKLY PRAYER EMPHASIS
MILITARY PERSON OF THE WEEK: Midshipman John Kania. USNAA, Annapolis,
Md. Continue to pray for classes this semester. Pray for possible shoulder surgery - for
the timing of surgery, that he will heal quickly so he can get back to regular training.
COLLEGE STUDENTS OF THE WEEK: Sarah Baumann is a Freshman at the University
of Pittsburgh. Jennifer Belluscio is a Junior at Delaware County Community College.
LEADER OF THE WEEK: Gerry DeVita, House Committee, Board of Trustees
MISSIONARY OF THE WEEK: Carolyn Hart, Retired, Bible Training Center for
Pastors—Carolyn is in an Episcopalian Assisted Living facility in Little Rock, AR,
where she’s getting excellent care. Her daughter, Holly, is close by. She moved there
last April, likes it very much, has made friends, is involved in many activities, and has
rejoined the Bible church where Buddy preached for many years. She has two wonderful
granddaughters; a sophomore and senior in high school. Carolyn’s in the early
stages of Alzheimer's and has some minor memory issues – forgetting to eat and not
taking her pills. Being where she is, is an answer to prayer. Otherwise, her health is
good. On a happy note, Carolyn, Holly, and her other daughter, Robin, who lives locally
and works at Delaware County Christian School are going to FL the end of March
where Carolyn used to live to see old friends. Pray for safety in travel and for them to
have a good time. You can write to Carolyn at: 2801 Alders Gate Rd., Apt. 211, Little
Rock, AR 72205. She would love to hear from you! “I will extol the Lord at all times;
NURSERY WORKERS NEEDED FOR SUNDAY EVENINGS: Where can you spend an
hour crawling around on the floor, acting silly, eating all the animal crackers and
pretzels you want and storing up treasures in heaven at the same time? Where can
you hold one of God's precious little ones, hear the delighted squeal of a toddler as
they discover something new, read endless picture books and encourage Christ-like
behavior in a two-year old? By volunteering to help in our nursery! At this time we
are in need of workers in the nursery for the Sunday evening services! If you can
serve in this way, please stop by the nursery counter to fill out a Volunteer Form or
LOOKING AHEAD
THANK YOU to all who signed up a few months ago to be EMERGENCY RESPOND-
ERS should the need arise. Your response was overwhelming. The new lists will be
up soon. Also, as a reminder – there are First Aid Kits in every kitchen on campus
and also in the nursery and on the wall outside the beginner dept. These are only to
be used for emergencies on the church campus. If you take one from its specified
location, please be sure to return it. The kits will be re-stocked as needed. If one
breaks and cannot be re-hung, please contact Dave Pilgrim or Kathie Ida.
HAVE YOU CONSIDERED GOING TO ISRAEL? There is still time to reserve your
spot for the trip going from May 21 through June 1. Information and registrations on
the 12 day trip to Israel and Jordon are at the information center. You can also call
