Upuntil the introduction by Chichester University of anacademy, the school had a reducing pupil roll in anarea where there are a higher than usual numberof under 24 year olds, high unemployment andwhere 16% of the towns 16 year olds were leavingschool with only level 1 qualifications and 19% withno qualifications at all. The Company hopes withits contacts in the construction industry and its<strong>Livery</strong>man’s mentoring, the new building departmentin this school will encourage the students to lookto careers in the trades and management of theconstruction industry.COOKSWe pay part of the salary for the Dietician at Treloar’sCollege and the Training Manager for Jamie Oliver’s15 apprentice programme. We sponsor catering studentsat Hackney Community College.We award annually two City and Guilds Prizes (forcatering students nationally) and one prize for thebest MSc dissertation on the Food Policy Course atCity University.We provide governors of Hackney CommunityCollege and Christ’s Hospital SchoolWe are looking to expand our own apprentice schemein conjunction with Westminster Kingsway College.Resulting from our support, over 100 apprenticesfrom seriously deprived backgrounds have qualifiedas chefs from the Jamie Oliver Foundation’s “15”,and have been employed at prestigious hotels/restaurants throughout London.
