One of these coils is catalytically coated, so thatflammable gases oxidize there with oxygen and cause a rise intemperature. This rise in temperature is evaluated and has to beconsidered as size for the measured gas concentration.: Catalytic combustion sensors react upon every type of flammablegases and vapours. The sensitivity decreases to higherhydrocarbons, while the response time increases.Special Influences : ▪ Some substances, as silicones, halogenated hydrocarbons, leadtetra-ethyl,sulphur compounds and organic phosphorcompounds lead to partly irreversible losses of sensitivity (sensorcontamination)▪ A linear measuring signal cannot be secured at oxygenconcentrations < 10 % (v/v).▪ Alarm levels from 10 % LEL (with higher hydrocarbons from 20% LEL)Sensor Lifetime : typical: 2-5 years, depending on operation conditionsMaintenanceIntervals : Minimum every half year.We recommend to keep EN 50073 and national regulations (orGerman BG Chemie-Information BGI 518)Test Gas (Zero Point) : Ambient air (free from measured gas) or synthetic airTest Gas (Sensitivity) : 0.4 to 0.8 Vol.-% propane in airTest Gas Application: 0.5 to 1 l/min by means of ExTox-Calibration Adapter for minimum60 sSensor Element,Article No. 620000ReplacementFurther Information : EN 50073, BG Chemie-Information BGI 518 (German version only)This Data Sheet is at the same time a type specific supplementto the Instruction Manual ExTox Transmitter ExSens/Sens.(Subject to technical change)ExTox GmbH ● Hildebrandstraße 5 ● D-44319 Dortmund ● Tel. +49 231 589 409-0 ● Fax +49 231 589 409-10Internet: www.extox.de ● mail to: info@extox.de251001_ExSens_BG-WT_e_V8.doc,06/02/2005,Seite 2 von 2
