Rose BakerStrength and Conditioning CoachRose Baker enters her second season as the strength and conditioncoach for the Storm.A 2003 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse with a degreein Exercise and Sport Science, Baker currently is also a strength andconditioning coach at the University of Washington. Baker began herstint at UW in January of 2004 and has been working with many of theuniversity’s sports programs since.Melissa HardinMS, ATC, CSCS*DMelissa Hardin, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA)and Certified Athletic Trainer (NATA), is in her second season with theStorm. A graduate of Western Washington University with a Masters Degreeis Human Performance and Movements she is also a licensed Red CrossFirst Aid/CPR instructor.Hardin’s knowledge of athletics and fitness is broad and well formed as aformer college NCAA soccer player and through years experience working incollegiate-level athletics. For the past seven years, Hardin has been the Director of Operations and StrengthCoach for Triple Play Baseball Club, a college placement baseball program. She also trains a women’s<strong>com</strong>petition team that <strong>com</strong>petes at various races, strength <strong>com</strong>petitions and events and contracts out sportspecific training for athletes.Hardin’s husband is Saul, and has three sons Cyrus and twins Dominic and Isaiah.Tom SpencerA.T., C. PTATom Spencer, in his second season as the head athletic trainer for theSeattle Storm, graduated from Central Washington University in 1990with a degree in individualized studies: Sports Medicine and AdaptivePhysical Education.Spencer worked for the Milwaukee Brewers for one summer as the HeadAthletic Trainer for the Peoria Brewers of the Arizona summer league in1988. From 1989-1999, Spencer worked for the Cincinnati Reds as a HeadMinor League Athletic Trainer at many different levels from Rookie ball to Double A. Spencer went back toschool to be<strong>com</strong>e a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2002 and since then he has been working for Peak Sportsand Spine Physical Therapy. Spencer opened an office in the Lake city area in August 2006.Spencer was born and raised in the Seattle area. He, his wife Margaret and his two daughters Marisa(13) and Mariel (11), live in the greater Seattle area.
